From Mattress to Door Knob--What's Your Time?

Alarm clock goes off at 7:20.
Dressed, teeth brushed, face washed, perfuming/deodorizing/lotioning/hair brushing: 7 minutes.
Gather purse and breakfast bar, cell phone, sunglasses, keys, tollway money, debit card: 3 minutes maximum.

If I’m not in the car by 7:35, there is a 95% chance I will be late.

~J ~NOT a morning person~

Lord… I am amazed and horrified by how many of you regualrly get up at 4 a.m…

On the days that I have to work in the morning, my alarm goes off at 6 a.m, and then I hit the snooze button (or, more accurately, fling my arm blindly to my left and hope to eventually, at some point, hit the snooze button) for about forty-five minutes. Then, up, stumble to the kitchen, feed the cat, plug in the coffee, stumble to the bathroom, do bathroom things (not shower though, I shower at night; like Cosmopolitan, I too have cooties). Drink coffee, read livejournal, email, etc. until 7:20-ish, then get dressed, tie back my hair, drink more coffee, moan about how I dun wanna go to work, drink more coffee, then leave for work at 7:40.

So, one hour forty minutes from when I first wake up, and about an hour from when I actually haul myself out of bed.

On the days that I work in the afternoon, it’s several hours between getting up and leaving the house. On the days I don’t have to work, I may not leave the house at all. Ah, bliss.

I’m still in high school, and I value every bit of sleep I can get. Two thirds of the way through the year, I’ve usually cut my time down to 35-25 minutes (wake up time 6:45-6:55ish to 7:20 or so). This half hour, give or take, includes taking a shower, shaving every other day or so, picking out clothes, getting dressed, blow-drying my hair (of which there is a lot), sometimes snagging some breakfast, rounding up $3.00 or however much cash I can find for lunch, and on occasion, applying a bit of make-up.

But that’s over now. For three glorious months, it’s forty-five minute shower season. Every morning. Thank God.

Without Dope: 45 minutes.

With Dope: 90 minutes. (The Dope really makes me linger over my bowl of cereal.) Most of my lateness at work is due to my inability to say no to my morning Dope.

Usually 90 minutes.

Alarm rings at 6:00AM.

Try to get up.

Fail.

Fall back asleep.

Get yelled at by the missus at 7:20AM that I’ll be late.

Scramble to wake up, wash up, shave, change, snarf breakfast, and run out the door.

Alarm goes off:
shower (5 minutes)
dress (5 minutes)
organise my stuff (5 minutes).
Leave.

so 15-20 minutes, 5-10 if I showered the night before.

I tend to shower the night before, or my schedule starts 30 minutes earlier(doesn’t take long to shower, but my hair won’t be dry for work any later.)

6:15- alarm goes off. I don’t ever use the snooze, so I’m up, and stumbling around to turn off the alarm, the white noise machine, and the fan if it’s on.

6:20- wander from bathroom to computer.

6:40- wonder if I should eat something. Either I do and bring it back to the computer, or I skip it.

6:53- notice it’s getting late. Think about getting dressed.

6:57- make lunch instead

7:05- finally get dressed

7:15- time to brush hair, put on make-up

7:20- Oh god, where are my shoes? I’m supposed to leave in 2 minutes!

7:24- out the door.

I’ve tried getting ready first, but it doesn’t help. I’m just at the computer until two minutes later than I planned to leave instead.

Normal weekday routine: out of bed at 8, out the door at 8:45.

Accelerated routine: out of bed at 8:30, out the door at 8:45

weekdays: alarm goes off at 7:30, out the door by 8:00
weekends: usually wake up at 10:00 or so, might make it out the door by 4:00pm

I’m a student so there are two answers:

When I have lectures: Get out of bed at 8.46 (after a varying amount of hitting snooze), walk as quickly as poss. to lectures, arrive at 9.08, momentarily before the lecturer finishes all available boards space and starts erasing stuff.

When I don’t: Can be several days.

Alarm goes off at the crack of midday

Get up by 12.30pm

Have breakfast and veg out for an hour watching English soaps

At 1.30pm drag self into bathroom to begin grooming ritual

2.00pm mess around for far too long on 'puter

2.30pm leave for work :stuck_out_tongue:

Wake up 6:45 if I have to shower, otherwise 7. Spend five minutes waking up, asking B if I can sleep more or if I absolutely have to go. Get dressed in about five minutes, if that. Load MPSIMS and the Pit, read email and then I’m out by 7:20.

6 am, alarm goes off

6:15 get arse out of bed, turn on computer, pee, check email, read online comics

6:25 take shower, get dressed, makeup, hair, etc.

6:55 make coffee, pack lunch, eat breakfast

7:10 gather keys, cell phone, etc, make sure cats have food and water, throw dishes in sink

7:15 out the door

Total time: 1:15 from wakeup to commute

I think I just set a record this morning. I was lying in already awake, expecting the alarm to go off at 6:15, wondering why it hadn’t, plus the fact that it seemed to be getting too light outside for my usual wake-up time. When I looked at the clock it read 7:00 AM. I have to be to work at 7:30.

“Holy shit!” I exclaimed, realizing that I forgot to turn the alarm on last night. I immediately got up, got in the shower, came back out and brushed my teeth and shaved (I usually skip the shave if I am running behind but I already had growth from over the weekend), dried and combed my hair and then got dressed. Total time: 13 minutes. I still made it to work on time.

I’m in high shcool, and I move very slowly in the morning. It takes about an hour and a half fot me to shower, get dressed, and all other morning stuff. I take really long showers. On occasion, I’ve fallen asleep in the shower.

I take my showers the night before because in the morning I do not have the energy for it. A few mintutes to brush my teeth and a few minutes to get dressed.

1991, summer between junior and senior year,
Alarm set for 6:53, run down stairs, brush teeth,
wet hair, throw on clothes, 3 1/2 minute ride to work,
Was never late for 7am the entire summer, now its
about 2 hours.

45 minutes at a leisurely pace if I skip the shower, which I occasionally do.

1 hour otherwise.

I can get out the door fully “together,” including feeding the cats and a pot of coffee, in as little as 20 minutes if need be - I go from asleep to fully awake in the space of a quick -erm- bowellular movementation…

hrh

weekday: alarm goes off at 6:00, out the door at 7:30 (I like taking my time and savoring the morning, maybe going for a run or something)

weekend: wake up without an alarm around 7:00-7:30 or so.
