I didn’t see a thread about this game being released so I thought I’d start one. I recall some of you playing FOF2k7 and it has been 6 years since the last release so this might have slipped off your radar.
There have been a lot of under the hood improvements in the game and it’s a bit more user friendly. It’s still a text sim and it still looks like a spreadsheet so don’t expect much new there.
What is there is still the best american football management game updated to reflect the changes in football since 2k7 and with an improved AI and better in game tools to improve the user experience. There is a demo for those interested.
I love sports management games, so I’ll probably go back to try FOF7 at some point. If you haven’t tried it yet, Professional Football Simulator is quite good.
How quick is it to pick up for a newbie user? How user friendly is the interface? I’d be interested in trying the demo, but three days seems a short period for something this complicated.
The interface is pretty ugly but it’s reasonably user friendly. The game has a pretty easy learning curve. You can play simply as the GM and not touch the coaching side but you can drill all the way down to playcalling if you want. The computer does a pretty competent job of game planning for you so you don’t have to worry about missing much if you let it do the grunt work.
The old demo’s used to let you play out a preseason as many times as you want but the three day demo is much better as you can sim some seasons to see how the engine works.
That looks great. I’ll check it out when I get home. Thanks.’
