I’ve been playing this game, Goal Line Blitz, for a few months now, and I think some of my fellow dopers might enjoy it.
It’s a text-based football MMORPG where you create your own American-style football player and manage every aspect of his career. Most of the game is free (I haven’t paid a dime yet), but purchasing your own team costs money from having to buy “Flex Points”.
Anyways, I think it’s a cool game, and I think some of my fellow football fanatics would probably enjoy it.
No, you will not get referral points from me.
…
You should get them from me instead!

It sounded like a great idea to me, but I’m actually a little bitter about missing out on my chance to get in on the ground floor, and I don’t want to spend a bunch of money to catch up. I may still start messing around with it at some point.
For now, though, I’ll stick to my single player text based football management sim, Front Office Football. On a dollars-spent/hours-played basis, it’s by the far the best value of any game I’ve ever purchased. And, of course, there are a bunch of thriving multi-player leagues, which are a huge amount of fun.
Varlos, I hardly got in on the ground floor, and I haven’t spent any money to date playing. There are guys who have spent thousands of dollars on the game, but I don’t intend to be one of them!
I ran one of these threads a while ago. I’d toss in my link, but I’m on an iPod so I can’t paste it in. But I’ve spent some cash on it after getting in for season 2, and can toss in advice for any who want it
