Fuck David Letterman and all misogynistic leftists who support him on this

Papa Bear tell you to rant about this?

This thread and this whole “controversy” get a big  from me. He said “knocked up,” which means sexual assault only in the statutory sense. You are aware that another one of Sarah Palin’s daughters got knocked up, right?

Not seeing the controversy. Bristol Palin is sexually mature and sexually active. The joke can be interpreted as her having willing sex with Alex Rodriguez.

Thread Fail.

Who is Papa Bear?

Bill O’Reilly. And he’s astroturfing this controversy.

This has nothing to do with Bristol Palin. It was about a 14 year old.

Stephen Colbert’s affectionate nickname for Bill O’Reilly.

Then the answer is “No,” I don’t watch him. I disagree with him on a lot of issues and don’t like him personally. But in all fairness I haven’t seen him in about a year, so maybe he’s changed.

I support Letterman. 'twas a funny joke.

ETA: I thought this was about Bristol so I’ll change my response appropriately.

I still don’t think it’s a huge deal. It’s a bit off colour but he is a comedian and it is on late night TV. It’s not like it was part of an Obama speech.

14 year-olds have sex. Deal.

Comedians make jokes. Deal.

Don’t watch him either, sorry if I have trouble keeping up with you guys. But even if I did learn about this from O’Reilly, and if I felt compelled to take orders from him, how is this more of an issue than what Letterman said?

Does the failure of any of the posters so far to condemn Letterman - while you do have time to condemn me - mean that you support what Letterman said?

See post #7

He didn`t say “Palin’s 14 year old daughter who was actually and literally at the baseball game got knocked up”. It’s a fucking joke.

Obviously he was talking about Brisket Palin, who really did get knocked up due to all the teenage sex she was having out of wedlock. How can anyone, let alone thousands of people on the Internet, have such a complete understanding of how humor works?

The writer of the linked article even thought it was Bristol (initially). Isn’t it possible that Letterman did too?

Is there some reason a lefty-liberal type might choose to defend this? Have any examples?

That’s a really bad joke in really bad taste, and I should care…why, exactly?

Yeah, I edited my post. This thing is updating too fast. When I replied there wasn’t any responses.

It was about Brisket, not Willow. It wouldn`t be funny if it was about Willow because she’s 14 and never got knocked up. That’s how you know it was about Brisket.

Good question, I guess you could say there are some reasons above.

Anyway, I’ve enjoyed the debate so far, but I have to go back to work supporting the capitalist machine. I’ll check in tomorrow, but can’t promise I’ll respond - certainly not at this rate.
