Palin chuckles at shock jock's puerile insults

I found this on the Huffington Post.

Gov. Palin appeared on one of those radio dickheads-in-the-morning shows this year and giggled as the host called one of the governor’s opponents “a cancer”, “a bitch”, and made a fat joke about her. An op-ed in the Anchorage Daily News blasted her for it.

To me this shows some immaturity on her part, to put it mildly.

Yawn.

This was basically the first “scandal” associated with Palin after she was announced as the Republican VP. Personally, I don’t see the big deal as it was a shock jock program. She didn’t call her opponent a bitch and pretending that Palin “should have known better” is just lame.

Should she have said “be nice”? Sure. But to blame her for something that was said by someone who has to be controversial as part of their job and then wagging their finger at her laughing at it? That’s just stupid.

The Alaskan Secession group and the outcome of “Babygate” (she really did fly 8-12 hours in labor, bravo you bimbo!) are much more interesting.

Really?!? she chuckled??!?!

Chuckled!!! CHortled?!?! TEE HEED?!?!?!

She heard a stupid joke or purile comment and she didn’t immediately lecture!?!?

WHAT NERVE!! WHAT AUDACITY!!!

MY god that woman doesn’t deserve to be in any position of power!!

How dare she even break a smile!!

It’s a good thing we uptight upright people know that life is completely serious. We never name call or make light of anything unless we need a joke of refined sophistication to make us gafaw a bit. Even then it can only be at the expense if conservative types because they take themselves oh so seriously!

Well, I agree she isn’t to be blamed for someone else’s comments. But I hate those dumbass radio shows and the fact that she was a guest on one, and apparently enjoyed the dumbassery, makes her look shallow and childish to me.

Huh. Until I read the article I was thinking “Good for her, fuck them”.

Turns out she was laughing with them, not at them. So, still nothing good about her except her MILFness. Ah well.

Where is this meme coming from? The announcement is what, four days ago? The news cycle moves that fast for you?

The don’t talk about that, it’s “old news” was even brought up regarding her affiliation with the AIP, as if it was soooo 1990s.

It’s not unseemly to expect the VPOTUS (and in McCain’s case, very possible POTUS) to demonstrate extraordinarily high judgment, political awareness, and astuteness. If she were to appear on a similar show today, would her reaction be the same? Why not? While this may not be sink-the-ship-worthy, it is not some trivial must-be-considered slip. In fact, given the paltry record we have, such limited insights have all the louder voice – something McCain should have considered in choosing such an unknown candidate.

The candidate of Family Values, ladies and gentlmen…

The only really bad thing said was about her being a cancer, because she had had cancer. And that was a nervous laugh. You can hear her about to say something like “oh, come on”. But if this is the type of stuff you guys got, I’m optimistic about McCain/Palin in November.

Y’know, I can appreciate a well-turned, if slightly varicosed, ankle, but Sarah Palin wasn’t even particularly cute when she was doing beauty pageants. The pool in Alaska is shallow, as is the one in politics. She’s only MILFish compared with Kay Bailey Hutchison.

She’s considered MILF-worthy? Who knew?

She reminds me of my 5th grade history teacher. Nice figure for having four or five kids, but I wouldn’t call her a hottie.

I’m confused. What meme?

All I’m saying is that the “bitch laugh” was the first bad thing I heard about Palin after she was announced as the VP candidate. Since then, some honest-to-god real problems with her character and her integrity have popped up and I find them much more interesting to discuss.

They are also much more damaging to the McCain/Palin ticket, so they’re more “fun” in my mind.

Speak up now whether you want this moved to the Pit or MPSIMS.

It is not a debate and it is beyond silly.

Well, I thought it was going to be a debate because I thought the incident pointed to a problem with her character–a sign of immaturity or unseriousness or something. As I said.

But I had forgotten that the whole “character debate” is bullshit anyway.

So I don’t really care what you do with it now.

Sorry if I caught you up in the generalization – I didn’t mean it as a personal affront (though if this gets moved to the pit I may have to, out of tradition and all).

Basically, there have been several threads (or discussion threads-within-threads) where someone has stated that such-and-such factor (e.g., she laughed at the host, she was a member of AIP) is “old news,” that it doesn’t have any bearing on today’s discussion, and that we should move on. Almost as if someone brought up, as if for the first time, Obama’s pastor or McCain’s 100 year commitment (to take two random examples, please don’t read into my choice).

Hearing it once is one thing, but after a few times I started wondering if there was a particular source for the idea. May not be, of course, but it’s what spurred my question. Again, no personal attack intended.

I think the issue of charachter might be worthwhile; I’m just not sure that catching someone in an awkward moment when confronted by that sort of shock behavior actually demonstrates it.

And I probably overreacted to your thread, but after watching a dozen or so posters playing “Uh huh”/“Nuh uh” over the Palin nomination for three days, I dread seeing one more thread that will give them an opportunity to spread their bile through GD.

—oops. I should know better.

Can’t you just dislike her because she’s against abortion in cases of rape and incest (or like her for that reason, I don’t give a shit)? Most of the personal attacks I’ve seen are beyond absurd and I have a strong feeling they wouldn’t be happening if the people from the other side did the same thing.

Like Bush faith-based initiatives = teh ebil suxx0rs, Obama faith-based initiatives = omg teh revolutionary win win.

On the other side:

Clinton lied = buuuuuurn 'im!!!, Bush lied = it’s not illegal.

I wish politics weren’t so immature.
