Fuck David Letterman and all misogynistic leftists who support him on this

Oh, naturally. I wouldn’t go below 17 myself, but hey, let’s at least make the Canadian liberal immigrants feel like home. (Canada’s AoC is 14, you know.)

Really? Took you that long to figure it out?
Or did you miss the news that Bristol Palin’s an easy skank who’s probably already had a few secret abortions that her psycho satanic mom doesn’t even know about?

Lefty here.

I don’t even really see how that’s funny, and not even in the OMG SO MISOGYNIST sort of way. I mean it’s just not that funny. Is A-Rod some kind of serial rapist?

I interpreted it as a shot at Rodriguez. Either way, it had nothing to do with rape.

Dumbass.

Actually, they raised it to 16 last year, with some an exception if the age difference is less than 5 years.

Been watching Dave for close to thirty years. By US standards, I am most certainly a “lefty.” This particular joke blew (no pun intended).

So fuckin’ what? Won’t be the first or the last.

I look forward to watching Dave till one of us permanently retires.

Cheers.

They just vote for them.

And I always thought it was the right wing that got hot under the collar and manic about teenage sex!

Call yourself a fucking liberal and you’ll heap this kind of shit on a teenage girl just because she made the mistake of getting pregnant and her mother is a Republican governor?

You’re a fucking disgrace and you should be ashamed of your miserable self. What, you want them to lower the age of consent to 14 so you can call all teenagers skanky whores? It’s fucking hypocrites like you that would do us all a favor by shutting the fuck up.

And, OP, lighten up. I’m on the right and I thought the Letterman joke was funny

“One awkward moment, though, during the game, maybe you heard about it, maybe you saw it on one of the highlight reels, one awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game: her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.”

That’s what your outrage is directed at, Plan B? You’re wasting your breath. It’s not about rape, and Bristol Palin is an 18-year-old and a mother, so she’s neither underage nor particularly innocent. She’s made herself a target with the ridiculous abstinence campaign she’s running to help her mother’s 2012 campaign.

I admit the Palins’ campaigns are funnier than Letterman’s joke, though.

No, I want to lower the AoC so next time “Papa Bear” misinterprets a joke, he doesn’t have the option of screaming “OMFG LETTERMAN CALLED RODRIGUEZ A SEX OFFENDER!” because it would be no different than saying that he knocked up Britney Spears or Cher. Seriously, all the recent sex offender RO threads have wrankled my craw lately…

And no I don’t think Palin’s 14yo daughter is a skanky whore…yet. Give her time, the acorn rarely falls far from the tree.

Didn’t read the text below the video, so I didn’t see that the joke uses Willow Palin at Bristol’s expense. The subject is still the bullshit abstinence campaign and I don’t think this is anything to get offended about. It’s a joke, for fuck’s sake.

You’re doing violence to the English language: it was a joke, there’s nothing to “support.”

Fuck me, that’s a funny joke.

It didn’t demand tax cuts, toss a callow sop toward ‘troop supportin’, and not once did it mention genuflecting toward Ronnie.

It HAS to come from the left wing.

-Joe

More tighty righty manufactured outrage; oh, woe is the poor persecuted paragon of righteousness!

Boo fucking hoo. They should stick to carping about “under god” being left off Pepsi cans.

Meh. It’s too stupid a joke for me to be offended by it. But then Dave hasn’t made me laugh since his heart attack.

The joke *isn’t *about Willow though. Letterman doesn`t say anything to suggest he’s talking about Willow. Anyone listening to the joke would assume he’s talking about Brisket, who is 18 and who actually got knocked up. That’s why, although it’s not hilarious, the joke makes sense.

It doesn’t make any sense to conclude it was about Willow just because she was literally there in spite of that conclusion making the joke offensive and unfunny. Jokes don’t need to be and in fact almost never are literally true.

It’s like saying “I’m offended that the bartender would insult a patron’s unusually long face. I’ve concluded the bartender was actually talking to a human being because a horse would be physically unable to walk into a bar. Very offensive and misogynistic*!”

*As long as we’re all using misogynistic for no good reason.

Willow was the one at the game, so it’s about her. The setup is confusing, but the joke appears to be that another Palin daughter got pregnant as a teenager, and A-Rod did it. If the joke is about A-Rod getting Bristol pregnant when she wasn’t at the game, the part about them being at the game isn’t “not literally true” - it’s complete nonsense.

I would have rated the the joke one flag, maybe two; but now that I know it is getting under the skin of the tighty-righties, I’m giving it six flags.

DOOT-doot-da-doot-dadoot!

I’m on board with Fear Itself here–when it was just a Letterman joke, it was kinda unfunny (the one about the hardest part of the tour being “keeping Spitzer away” was worth a chuckle, though).

Now that I know Malkin and O’Reilly are willfully misinterpreting both the literal words and the point of the joke to score outrage points, the entire situation is more meta-hilarious than pretty much any given entire season of Letterman.

Only in an awful awful place where humor goes to die.
