ManiacMan:
If S. Palin was the one being criticised (your words) why would she need to “defend” her children? I don’t recall her children being the ones vilified. If anything she needed to stand up for herself , and her defend her decision to have her kids on the campaign trail. Besides, all the criticism was just bullshit. Did Obama get the same treatment for whenever his daughters were photographed during the campaign, or on the trail? Nope. Double standard #1 ,223…and counting.
And I wonder why she brought her children in the spotlight? Maybe it was because if she hadn’t have done so the wacko lefties would have vilified her even worse. At least she was able to say…“You know what? This is my family and we have our share of problems, but I am not ashamed or going to try and hide anything about my family, so fuck off”.
Way to completely miss every word I said.
Care to re-read my posts in this thread and try again, or would you prefer I spell it out for you?

See you wrote this paragraph:
Sarah Palin was raked over the coals over how she paraded her children out like props, using them to further her career. She was criticized vehemently about being a bad mother because she dragged her Down Syndrome child around the country, and put her underage, pregnant daughter in the spotlight to potentially (and in reality) become a punching bag.
Then…you wrote this next paragraph and somehow you went from S. Palin being criticized vehemently to all of the sudden her children being the subjects of nastiness. You went from point A to point C…so if you want to take the time to “spell it out” for me go right ahead. I usually need that done when someone writes a disjointed post like yours.
If Sarah Palin had stood up and defended her children from such malicious and uncalled-for nastiness, I think she would’ve been hailed as a fierce advocate for her children. Instead, she kept her mouth shut when they were getting the worst of it.
So you must have been one of the fifteen !

Try following the whole thread.

And you know, I don’t even necessarily disagree with Schmidt’s opinion that Sarah Palin shouldn’t have remained silent , as one blogger apparently suggested. She’s entitled to disagree with others on the best or right response from a woman whose child had just been insulted, even as a “joke” by a comedian.
However, where was Sonja Schmit or, for that matter, Sarah Palin, when a comedian on Saturday Night Live suggested that Todd Palin was fucking his daughters? **“What about the husband?” asked a mock Times reporter. “You know he’s doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It’s Alaska!” **Not only did Palin not express her outrage, but she and Todd both went on to appear on Saturday Night Live just a few weeks later.
Where the hell was she when Conan O’Brien said, “It’s true, John McCain’s running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, has revealed that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant. Palin said, ‘We should never have introduced her to John Edwards.’” No accusations from her or Todd about a tasteless joke about raping one of their daughters by a significantly older man.
Or how about this lovely Conan O’Brien line, “Saturday night, Sarah Palin is going to drop the first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers’ hockey game. Then Palin will spend the rest of the game trying to keep the hockey players out of her daughter’s penalty box"? The daughters she had with her were her 9 and 13 year olds. What, no rape outrage from Palin or Schmidt?
As far as I’m concerned, they can both shove their feigned outrage up their asses. Sarah Palin only made an issue out of this incident because she needed to keep herself in the media spotlight. She has no shame in using her own daughters to promote her career. If she gave a damn about their virtue, she’d have been defending them at every single comment, not just when she craves attention.
