I think that happened when the Republicans broke new ground by nominating a woman for vice president. They did that as a show of gender equality, whereas the Democrats nominated a black guy out of tokenism, so it doesn’t count.

My feelings about this are a little mixed.
If the “Tackling Violent Crime Act” (cough) was in force in the '80s, then the most of my sexual partners from '85 - '87 would be considered sex offenders today. As it was, these young women were often primarily responsible for birth control and had mysterious pharmaceuticals, jellies, diaphragms, etc.
I have a hard time imagining that it would have been better if I went with grade eight & nine girls that were my perfect equals in terms of horniness and inexperience.
But, then, I am a misguided leftist and firmly believe that people should be as prepared as possible for the practicalities of human sexual behaviour as they first approach sexual maturity.
Putting all the emphasis on simple resistence against a biological imperative and leaving young people to figure the rest out for themselves only leads to situations wherein toothy comedians point and laugh at you for your family’s poor record of family planning.
I’m no fan of misogynists, whatever their political leanings, but this didn’t even give me a hint of an outrage boner. It was pretty lame, though.
