Fuck Hollywood Poker and its shitty MTTs!

Sorry if this isn’t pissed off enough for the newly revamped Pit rules, but oh well. I am sick to fucking death of getting fucked over by HP and its refusal to move players (in general) and me (in particular) fairly in multi-table tournaments. Every single time except one that I’ve played a MTT on that site I get screwed upon getting moved to a new table. The last one I played before tonight, I was moved four times in the course of the tournament. Once from the small blind at one table to the big blind at the next. Once from the cutoff seat to the big blind. Once from two off the button to UTG and once from the button to two in front of the button. Position is so important in hold ‘em, and i get robbed of a good dozen late position hands over the course of the tourney. Not to mention the huge disadvantage I’m put in by paying eight rounds of blinds in the time that most other players are paying four. Then tonight not only do I get a sick beat put on me in the big blind at my first table (all in with QQ against AK and KJ and not one but two Kings flop) but my table immediately gets broken down and I get moved from the big blind to the big blind so I have to immediately blind off 20% of my meagre remaining stack. Not like I was going to come back from that chip-rape but the insult didn’t have to be added to the fucking injury. There is no goddamn way that every single time my table gets broken down there are no better seats available than these. It can’t be that complicated to write something into the seating routines to minimize players’ getting fucked by moves. But hey, who at HP cares about fairness as long as they’re getting their fucking rake?

It should be completely random…when a table is broken down, 10 available seats are “shuffled” and distributed to the 10 players.

It does suck when you get a bad run, just like a bad run of cards…but I’ve lucked out the other way as well…I’m sitting UTG, table breaks, and I land in the cutoff.

Oh I should add that once you get down to 2-3 tables, it isn’t random…the short table that needs a player will ask for the player on the button on another table when the button hits the dead seat, so at least when the blinds are huge you don’t have to worry bout paying it twice as often.

Otto, keep your money for the “real” games! Your stories have turned me off online poker already. Your rants would have made me thought you’ve given up on them as well. The frequency of your rants on this topic tell me you must have won a bit on them, as they are (relatively) few and far between. And you’re still playing.

Give us some threads on the big wins! Let us know how you bluffed a huge pot and walked away smiling. Good Lord, give us an inkling you’ve made some coin off the people that are cleaning you out from time to time! We need some hope out here!

Plus, playing face-to-face you get to take out your anger on those you feel wronged you. Right or wrong, if you’re really, really pissed, you get the visceral satisfaction of getting it out of your system.

OK, so that’s not the best way to go about it. But at least you can give a mean look to the person taking the chips. Better than stewing in the apartment about it.

Not sure of the bail rates in Madison, but if you need some muscle I’m not too far away. I don’t charge too much for the bank. The only payment I ask for is bail. And some beer.

And maybe a seat at the table.

But that’s exactly my point. It shouldn’t be completely random. Redistribution of the players from the broken down table should put the players in as close to their old position as possible, so they are neither advantaged nor disadvantaged by the move.

If you insist…

I’m pretty sure I know what “shows cards” means.

WTH does “mucks cards” mean?

“Muck cards” means folding one’s cards to a higher hand (already exposed) without the “Mucker” exposing his cards for all to see.

Nice monsters, Otto.

So how is it that Otto has the values of those “mucked” cards to share with us?

Otto I completely understand your frustration, but it is just random bad luck (for an example of more random bad luck read my last post here. It’s poker that’s all.

What I love is when someone loses on the river or is loses from way ahead, they blame the website “<explitive> bodog” or “Another bodog suckout”. THis is humorous for many reasons: 1) if you think the game is not honest, then play somewhere else; 2) there is no incentive for the website to do that; and 3) um how many hands do you notice were that doesn’t happen? etc. I mean I think some folks seriously think that if you have AA against say 77 it is your god given right to win, and if you lose it should happen only on the flop.

SOme interesting play on some of thsoe hands Otto, the one that struck me was the 3rd hand. That 50 cent bet after the turn would have got my smell-o-meter going. Some starnge call sby other players in there as well., like the one in the last game. You bet $4 in the big blind and get called (with an A6 offsuit ?? goes to show some people see an ace and they get all starry eyed). Gets the middle pair and you bet $10 and he calls? Pot odds I guess at that point, he is getting 2 to 1, but he has to know he is beat at that point and hoping for a miracle. So the first acall is extremely dubious, the last one somewhat dubious.

Nice job, December 16th was a good day, eh?

Nice rake. I gotta say, though, Duffer has a point. Play a few brick & mortar tournaments, get the feel. And, unless you’re playing stud or draw, how does your seat position changing mess with you at all? The button should be moving.

I have played live multis, although not in a casino. The tournament director always made an effort, when breaking down tables, to seat people in something approximating their position at the old table.

The button is moving. But if I’m moved from the button or the cutoff at one table into a blind or UTG at another, that means I paid the blinds at the first table and missed out on two or three hands playing in late position, and I’m also paying another set of blinds immediately after having paid them. I lose the positional advantage that I would have had and pay double blinds. Not necessarily a huge deal in a very early round with 10-20 or 20-40 blinds, but when you’re talking, say, 500-1000 and you’re forced to lay out 3000 in blinds over the course of four or five hands when no one else is having to do that, it can put a dent in one’s stack. The one recent MTT where I didn’t get repeatedly screwed on the moves I took second; every other time I’ve not even come close. Of course there are a lot of other factors involved, but getting what amounts to double-blinded multiple times sure doesn’t help.

BTW, **Otto[/] I am not sure I would consider QQ losing to AK and KJ as a ‘sick beat’.

Are tables being merged, or players being added? Actually, either way, you shouldn’t be getting double blinded more, you should be getting double blinded less. More players, longer shots between blinds. If you’re playing at a table of 5, then suddenly playing at a table of 10, even with random shuffle you shouldn’t be getting double blinded that often. Send an email & explain what’s happening. Maybe they can do something about it. They can’t change it if they don’t know, right?

The sick part was that both of the remaining shared overcards hit the flop. I don’t consider it a bad beat because I’m only about 55% preflop, but that the shared card hits not once but twice…that is sick.

Sometimes it’s short tables (8 or 9 players) getting broken down with the players redistributed to fill up other tables, and sometimes it’s me being taken from a full table to fill in a spot at a short table to equalize them.

I agree, I shouldn’t be getting double-blinded. If a table gets broken down and I’ve just paid the blinds at that table then I should be moved to an open seat that’s as far from the blinds as possible at the new table. If a table is short, then the system should take someone from the matching seat at another table.

Oh believe me, I’ve drawn it to their attention. More than once.
