Secondly, there’s something about this story that’s been nagging at me. First, the dog allegedly kills some chickens. Do we know for sure that Kristi didn’t do it? Start small. Then kill the dog. Then the goat. This sounds a lot like a satanic ritual. Is this how she became governor? Working her way up the animal size chart until she got Satan’s attention? Thank goodness the goat worked; it might have taken her forever to find a panda in South Dakota.

More likely (though not that likely) to me is the scenario that come convention time Trump is staring down multiple felony convictions and is behind in swing states by double digits. In that case the GOPs survival instinct might kick in and they will start thinking about someone else, the VP pick being an obvious choice. Unless of course the VP pick is an admitted puppy murderer. That right there might be a reason for Trump to choose her

I agree. I’ve already seen tweets from ultra-hardcore MAGAs who are completely disgusted. Her VP hopes are dead in the water. Even Trump understands a concept as simple as “people like dogs.”
Yeah, I’m sure that in her mind this anecdote is meant to contrast her heartland values and rugged determination against the weak wristed wokeness of the coastal elites.
But she killed a dog. Full stop. That’s where the story ends for 90% of readers. Maybe (?) this has some resonance with some rural voters, but Trump has them locked up already.
These are MAGAs. If Trump tells them tomorrow that he likes Noem, these same people will say they have always liked and supported her. Because we have always been at war with Dogasia.

Does she milk goats on her farm? Is that the farm part?
If it’s a pro-Noem ad, it’ll probably end with her blowing the smoke out of the gun barrel and then giving the camera a satisfied look.
These are influencers that make money on social media. They have to maintain their own online identity as well. You underestimate how much Trump is influenced by those he sees as his people. It’s not like he has a bunch of his own ideas. If a large vocal part of his base is disgusted by her he’s not going to spend time defending dog murder. He’s going to pick a different sycophant.
But there is the difference, The neighbor’s dog was outside 24/7. Alone. It was not a “pet” so much as a fixture (because, everyone else in the neighborhood had one), a burglar alarm, I guess.
Half of America is currently rationalizing that shooting puppies is the best way to own the libs and show what Real America is made of.
Here’s what really bothers me about Noem’s awareness on the topic. Politicians always play to their base like when Alabama governor Kay Ivey said her state was proud to be racists. Now South Dakota governor Kristi Noem supposes that her base supports shooting puppies in the face. If I were a South Dakotan MAGA, I’d be really disturbed that that.
