I’m not even sure what to say about this other than these two morons should be facing a bit more than animal cruelty charges.

Yeah, they also need to be charged with Wasting Ammunition and Being Horrible Shots. Ten shots with a .22 to kill a puppy? Seriously? One ought to do it.
I’m a bit confused about why it’s bad to skin a dead puppy, though.
A couple of things come to mind.
How much hide is left after you pump ten bullets into a JRT puppy? That’s maybe a six or seven pound dog.
Would it still be animal cruelty if the method of execution were humane, say a single shot to the head, and the animal was preserved by a taxidermist? I’m just wondering.
For the record, I have two JRTs and a Rottweiller, and am the caretaker for many more dogs as well as cats. I think what they did was horrible, I’m just unsure what the law is about this.
You know, it says she wanted to make a belt, but that’s a lot of holes even for that. :dubious:
It’s not any different than killing any other animal. Either it’s not a problem or it is for you.
Yeah there is no big deal about killing a puppy unless you are against furs and leathers as a whole.
Killing it in ten shots is ridiculous though.
Maybe they’re industrial rock fans who misheard the name Skinny Puppy…?
Why?
Despite of what a person may feel about animal rights, I think there’s a huge difference in wearing leather belts and/or shoes and this kind of stuff. I’m sure this girl had PLENTY of belts. This was malicious, and unnecessary.
Crazy.
Three scenarios:
I’m pretty sure judgement is often made as to not only the type of crime you committed, but your actions during and after, at least I think, speaks volume of your sanity.
That is one tough son of a bitch.
I’m going to speculate that the puppy died from the first shot and started twitching and spasming as fresh corpses are wont to do and whoever was holding the pistol, having never witnessed death throes, freaked out and emptied the magazine into it.
True…
Let’s make it:
Yeah, except we’re not talking about killing a person. We’re talking about killing an animal. Why is killing a puppy to make a belt actionable, but killing a chicken to make dinner okay?
That one’s easy. Chicken tastes fucking good.
A dog’s got personality.
Because she had other belts it’s cruel? That’s ridiculous. Cruelness is what you do to the dog when alive. Filleting the dog before shooting it would have been sadistic, cruel and unnecessary. Shooting it dead and skinning it was the same as shooting a cow and butchering it. It’s not good they had to shoot it 10 times, but that’s probably due to inexperience. I’m not saying it was good they shot it 10 times or that I wanted it to happen to the dog. I’m just saying it’s done to animals everyday for the products people want and a puppy is no different.
Dog tastes good too. I’m as horrified by this as I am by slaughtering elephants in Africa solely for their tusks. Now, if they had cooked and eaten the puppy, made glue from the little bones, made sausages with the intestines, and cured the hide for a belt, I’d be much less unhappy. They didn’t do that. They killed a puppy for its pelt. Bad form, I say.
Perhaps in your mind it’s no different, but apparently under the law there is a difference. Animal cruelty statutes don’t exist for no reason.
I’m one of those annoying vegan types and I’d have to agree. It’s sad, but not something a whole lot worse than what happens to lots of other animals.
