Fuck silent birthing (Scientology bashing!)

By all means; I’m glad the time I spent looking through a rhyming dictionary was worth it. I’ve always wanted to be a sig line.

See? some good has come of the Katie-Tom connection. <insert sappy smiley here>

I mean ElRon said that the baby might hear the wrong things being said and get an “engram”. This could result in illnesses in later life…or even death! Of course, you can get rid of engrams by auditing. But when do those pesky thetans come long and get stuck to the baby?
Seriously, the more I read about this whacky cult, the more convinced I am that people who fall for this crap should be fined for stupidity!
By the way-has Hubbard’s family been pushed out of the “church” by now? Who’s running the show now?

How ironic that Tom is urging Katie to be subdued during childbirth when he can’t control himself on “Oprah”.

I don’t find this to be much whakier than other religious beliefs.

Oh, they are.

How did this Hubbard make it in the early 1950’s? Launching a cult means a lot of work-and low incomes. Anybody know how Hubbard recruited his early victims? And, was Hubbard totally crazy i his early years? By the time he croaked, he was pretty nutty!

Thy will be done.

Damnit!

I believe Scientology is a pretty practical religion for all of the slightly weird mythology and eschatology that was added to round it out as a “religion”. I think even the mythology is a condom for the penetrants, a gimmick for the subconcious. The mind needs to be spoken to subconsciously and in approprate language.

My only gripe is their obvious profit. To each his own, I guess.

Are you kidding? A “religion” that condemns psychiatry and psychoactive medication is practical? How has $cientology helped anyone? It certainly hasn’t cured TC’s dyslexia, whatever he says.

I think most of his family left the church on their own-his two kids with his first wife were never really a part of it, the daughter from his brief second marriage he never acknowledged and of his children with his third wife, Mary Sue, one, Quentin, committed suicide. There’s speculation that he was gay, bisexual, or that his father was behind his death.

Oh, here are two rather interesting videos with L. Ron’s thoughts:

First Part

Second Part

The man was crazier than a shithouse rat. “Practical” my ass.

Hubbard was a career con-man, swindler and writer.

He was a US Navy officer during WWII, and for a bried period afterwards.

He had some success as a writer, but much more as a con-artist.

He wrote early pulp-grade science fiction, and in fact Dianetics was initially published in a pulp-grade magazine.

He was an officer? I know he was in the Navy, but I believe he got a dishonorable discharge after firing on MEXICO during WWII.

Yeah, Mexico.

According to Martin Gardner (in Fads and Fallacies in the Name of Science), L. Ron Hubbard’s third wife divorced him for, among other things, torturing her while she was pregnant.

You sure it wasn’t his second wife? Because he was still married to Mary Sue when he died.
