Fuck Trump and his followers

What did he say? Anything specific?

He put out a statement trashing Democrats. Just more self-aggrandizing blather from a useless gasbag.

Kee-rist.

“should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them.”

All for it. Sanders kicks when its the right time to kick, after a big loss.

I’m appalled that so many try to attribute blame to someone who probably would have been a wonderful POTUS, and her party which generally tries to represent decency and humanity, instead of blaming an appalling population of vile racists and conspiracy theorists.

Well said. And I’m sure that had Harris gone full socialist, she would have won the day. Jesus Christ, there’s a man with his finger on the pulse.Sanders should have retired.

He’s a bitter, tired old know-it-all crank.

After a loss its time to account. And I just hope the Dems can steer their party towards a strong social minded recovery. If you hate Sanders for driving this point home, so be it. Who really cares. Trump just won.

Yeah, that’s the point. Trump just won. And he didn’t win because the Democrats weren’t progressive enough. Bernie doesn’t understand the American electorate. At all.

The 51st state is not a place.

Sanders disagrees. During the election you got to fall in line with the party, but after a loss? Frankly the right/centre Dems need to defend and justify their current vision of their party now.

Trump just won because the people who voted for him in 2020 wanted him just as bad for President two days ago as they did four years ago. And they turned out.

For whatever reason, the people who wanted Biden for President in 2020 didn’t all want Harris quite as much. I suspect a non-negligible amount of it was a lingering undercurrent of racism and misogyny. But I also think there’s some merit to the idea that maybe “Hey, let’s get the Cheneys out here and talk about how we’re going to have a Republican in the cabinet” wasn’t a winner with progressives, particularly those who have been misguided into thinking the Democratic Party might actually learn something from their staying home.

In reality, the Democratic Party will just follow the Republicans to the right… off a cliff, and it will be all the harder for even progress-curious candidates to win a national election in the future.

The drumbeat needs to be vote progressive in the primaries, and Democrat in the generals. Keep that drumbeat going for 2 years and just maybe we’ll be able to get a partial barrier to Trump by taking one of the houses of Congress in 2026. Because god I hope the Republicans don’t get four full years to fuck up our country unchecked.

Do you feel that going full-progressive will really bring in enough votes to make a difference?

Not for certain, no. But clearly going full “we love Republicans and want to be exactly like they were a quarter century ago, only without the overt racism, transphobia, homophobia, and misogyny” hasn’t done the trick, either.

Note that I don’t think both parties are equally bad (in fact, even just taking out all that overt bigotry is something), had no trouble casting an enthusiastic vote for Harris, and was certainly not spreading this criticism on social media in the run up to the general election (except maybe if you go back and look at some of my posts, you’ll detect an undercurrent—maybe) but I do think the story of the Democratic party of the last 50 years looks and awful lot like the story of the Republican party of 75 to 25 years ago, especially when it comes to the warm embrace of conservative economic policies (neo-liberalism) and an increasingly reactionary stance on immigration.

The hate has started.

But, but, I was assured that if we asked them they’d explain that none of their reasons for supporting Trump had anything to do with racism…

“Your body, my choice” is a rising right wing slogan women are getting shoved in their face.

Moved it. Mostly a hijack anyways. Fuck Trumpists.

“Evolved”, is perhaps a better term. It’s been here a long time already.

Yes, this is just the latest incarnation of the faction that the US built into its foundations when it let the slave states in. America’s original sin, along with the genocide of the Native Americans.
