To be clear, there are many people, including relatives, I will likely never have any further communication with due to their views. There are others who don’t know what they don’t know, who if they did, would be shocked (and no doubt will, shortly).
The biggest problem is things like Fox News spewing out their trash over public airwaves, 24/7.

And by the way, I have an aunt who used to be a political assistant to Mike Huckabee. But since she retired I haven’t heard her mention politics, and I am doing the same when I am around her.

I have trouble getting outraged about the “Great Replacement Theory”.
Yeah. As I’ve said before, the Great Replacement Theory is paranoid nonsense but even if it weren’t I’d have no problem with the main proponents of it being replaced.
In part I think the “Great Replacement” is a result of “hypodescent”; also known as the “One Drop Rule”. If a white person having children with a non-white counts as “not white” and not the converse, then without strict miscegenation rules over time there will be fewer and fewer “white” people. Not because of any actual change, but because the way they are counted by racists means more and more of them will be disqualified just because of who their ancestors slept with.
It’s a lot like how a family name can vanish without anybody being killed, because generally only one gender carries the name. Genetically the family is still there, it’s just a labeling issue. In the same way according to the “one drop rule” eventually there’ll be no “white people” left, despite nobody being killed and there being millions of, well, people who are white according to the non-racists.
Ssshh, no one tell the white supremacists that (by every reputable scientific account) we ALL have a family tree originating in…AFRICA.

I have noticed more and more (even on this message board) that hatred of others is just a part of normalized speech, and that “facts” are when opinions are when others say something you agree with, which means that the term “tone down the hate speech” is absolute gibberish to them. They are actually astonished that people object to what they say and how they say it. They see it as discrimination of their political views only, and not regulation of how they say things.
When people are trying to hurt you (and millions of others) hating them is reasonable and a matter of self defense. “Love your enemy” in real life just gets you hurt or killed.
I’m sorry, but they are saying the same thing about the left. You have to have a specific set of standards that do not change according to your political view, you have to call out the crap, and you have to call out the illegalities. “They do it too!!” has to be condemned as a weapon, because all it does is legitimize the original wrong.
Except their complaints are based on fantasy; “bothsides” doesn’t work. It’s silly to equate fears of fascist white nationalists and religious fanaticism, with fears of Satanic pedophiles with secret weather control machines.
Except that their fears and “facts” are just as real to them. They have actually redefined some terms and completely phased others out of existence. If you don’t believe me bring up “hypocrisy” with them and notice the blank looks. At best, hypocrisy is just a weapon to be welded in a very real (to them) war.
