At this point, there’s only two positions for a Trump supporter. You either:
-Like him because of who he is, or
-Like him in spite of who he is
That’s by definition.
And I would submit to you that one answer is much worse than the other, but that both answers are pretty damned awful.
I guess I can’t disagree with your logic. But my point is that the human mind is much more than simple logic.
Women are freaking dying needlessly because of the laws the RW has put in place. If that does not qualify as rape, I am not sure what does. The RW wants to treat women like livestock. That much is blazingly obvious. I understand that you consider yourself conservative and do not feel that way, but that simply means you are not modern RW.
Unless, of course, you actually do think women need to be put in their place, subservient to men.

Our political preference in a match-up like Trump vs. Harris could be thought of as a big bank of DIP switches and rheostats. The ‘character’ issues are one DIP switch. Think of January 6th as another.
The rheostats are a nearly unlimited number of particular issues, policy positions, etc.
I’d argue that the two DIP switches I identified are definitely binary – either up or down. The rheostats can be all over the map. How each person prioritizes each is very much a matter of personal preference.
But – at whatever cost (“Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?”) – the people who supported Trump this time around … put an extremely low priority on personal character issues and the attempted overthrow of the government. They put a higher priority on some or all of the rheostats than on those two DIP switches.
And I’m allowing that a small fraction of 2024 Trump supporters genuinely don’t believe all the bad stuff they’ve heard about him. Genuinely.
I think the rest just don’t care, which brings us back to my binary choice – because of who he is, or in spite of who he is

Those are positives to his followers.
If I’m going to ‘lose’ then I’ll do it willingly if the alternative is supporting a rapist for the presidency of the USA. Sorry, a little thing called morals. Something the ‘Christian’ right and anyone else who supports Trump lacks entirely.

Forever,” has been viewed more than 90 million times and reposted more than 35,000 times. Between Thursday and Friday, the ISD recorded a 4,600% increase in mentions of the phrase on X. And a number of women on TikTok posted videos saying their comments had been filled with users posting the phrase.
Many of those trolls are part of the so-called “manosphere,” which the ISD describes as online “misogynistic communities that vary from anti-feminism to more explicit, violent rhetoric towards women.”

Not every trumpist is a rapist-loving incel. Some are just ignorant of what else is out there. They don’t know what they don’t know.
Crafter_Man is a guy who’s been genuinely, unjustly screwed over in his career, and has a justifiable beef with the world over it. He’s astute enough to see Trump for what he is, but not to the point where he’s willing to expanding his sources to delve further into accurate assessments of what the Dems are actually doing/have done. And somehow illogically thinks that withholding a vote for Trump is equal to also voting for a Dem.
Acting like one makes the difference rather moot, however.

Are they also totally ignorant of what is out there? What Trump is? What Trump does? Of the many promises Trump has broken? Of the many lies Trump has told? Of the absolute hatred and disdain for the poor, the needy, and the broken? Of his sneering at the U.S. Military?
If all it takes is “They do it tooooo!” and some easily exposed lies, Then it goes from ignorance to deliberate ignorance, doesn’t it?
Yes. They are. I know a guy who had more integrity than anyone I’ve ever known. Liberal, fair, smart, etc. Married a Fox News addict after a painful divorce. Blindly in love, has heard nothing but Fox News for 12 years now. Hates Trump as a person, but thinks he’ll be good for the country, as seen on Fox.
