Fuck Trump and his followers

Be fair, now. He wasn’t a convicted felon in 2016 or even 2020, just a lying bastard.

Yet more grift from Trump. But if you have the money and a lack of all characteristics men call good, you too can bask in his presence and watch the holy water boil.

Yeah we see it with a few populists here in the UK (who will remain nameless, so I don’t hijack)

People who were born into wealth, had every privilege throughout their lives, and have never shown the slightest inclination to care about the little guy…able to rally the crowds with talk of taking back “our” country from the “elites”. While, as you say, giving tax breaks to their rich friends.

So disappointing to see how easily people can be conned.

Many years ago I read an article that talked about how so many people who vote Republican believe that they are just one personal injury lawsuit or lottery win away from being wealthy. I suddenly understood my brother a whole lot better.

Numerous observers have wondered why the Democrats don’t do better with the rural poor, whom one might think would stand to gain from social welfare and economic redistribution. I wonder if there’s a “poor but proud” ethic at work here. I’m thinking of how traditionally every white Southerner considered themselves nobility, and even the poorest “white trash” regarded themselves as shabby genteel, their circumstances a mere accident, and maintained a touchy pride. And whether this is an entirely different culture and outlook from urban and minority poverty.

Did you ever wonder if the power hungry media might just have a bit to do with it?

Presuming that you don’t watch Fox News, I would suppose that the reason for that is that you simply don’t agree with the views they promote. In other words, Fox News would have no audience if it weren’t for all the people predisposed to think that way already. Conservative media is not the primum movens of the political universe.

You presume far too much that I am even speaking about “Fox News”, as much as the Right likes to pretend that they are the be-all and end-all of right wing influence in this country. By the way, insinuating that people form their opinion out of whole cloth then seek out that which agrees with it ain’t gonna fly…especially from someone raised in Northern Idaho.

Ya mean something like,

President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, “If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”

?

There is a shitload of pocket-picking going on, and it is something I have seen in person.

Yes.

On an overall basis, blue state residents generally pay far more to the federal government than they receive back in aid and other forms of programmatic support from Washington. Some of this has to do with the fact that average incomes in the blue states tend to be substantially higher than in red states and therefore yield more in taxes — $14,500 per resident of a blue state versus $11,400 from each citizen of a red state. (Note that Virginia and Maryland are notable exceptions to this dichotomy because of the large federal workforces in those states, including a substantial military presence in Virginia.) Accordingly, lower tax rates, as Donald Trump is espousing, would benefit these blue states disproportionately (assuming restoring the deduction for state and local taxes remains off the table.)

I’m not sure I buy that. I doubt the coal miners, farmers, or various other working class Americans who voted Trump have any expectation of becoming wealthy one day. I think most of them honestly want good paying jobs so they can provide their families with a decent living.

I don’t think they felt their circumstances to me accidental, but rather the result of the actions of certain other people.

Fuck Time Magazine. The media is really the suck right now.

His followers are–and this comes as a surprise?–outright morons. (The link goes to Snopes.)

In December 2024, a video circulated online that claimed Barron Trump, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s youngest son, gave up his first-class seat to an elderly veteran.

&

Users flooded the video with comments, appearing to believe the story. “He was taught the right way how to honor veterans and to respect all,” a top comment read.

And why shouldn’t they believe this story?

The video also displayed signs of AI-generation — YouTube flagged it as “altered or synthetic content.”

And the real kicker:

Lastly, the description of the video included a disclaimer that clarified the channel posted only fictional stories:

The stories presented on this channel are entirely fictional and crafted solely for entertainment. Any resemblance to real events, individuals, or situations is purely coincidental and unintentional. These narratives are not intended to depict, reference, or represent any actual occurrences, persons, or entities.

Morons.

No. Trump is a rapist.

There was a whole case about this, with a judge and everything. Pay attention.

As angry as I might be with Trump supporters, there are too many of them to ignore or dismiss. One way or the other, I’ve got to live with them. I’m just not sure how to do that right now.

Watch it, you could be sued for libel for saying that.

To the tune of “I Am Woman” by Helen Reddy

I am MAGA dumb and poor
Too shrill and loud to be ignored
And I don’t know shit; that’s why I chose this ‘man’
‘Cause I’m a Fox News whore
And my thinking skills are poor
And no one else is gonna’ lie to me again

Yes, I love Trump
But I’m ignorant and lame
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But his NFTs’ got game
If I have to, I’ll don my MAGA hat
I am dumb (dumb)
I am unreachable
I am MAGA

Or just beaten to death by MAGA. That’s doesn’t make it any less true. Trump is a sexual predator, which is one reason he won the election; America is full of people who support rape and sexual assault in general. Every woman who is raped is a victory for the Right.
