Fuck Trump and his followers

Had a cousin on Facebook tell me “everyone has the right to vote without being judged”. Oh yeah? You vote for a guy who calls entire societies “garbage”, marginalizes LBGTQ, wants to take minorities and women’s rights away, I’m judging you. Too fucking bad.

Uh, that’s why it’s a secret ballot, coz. If you don’t want to be judged for your vote, don’t talk about which candidate you chose to vote for.

If you offer up that information, it’s absolutely fair game for personal judgement.

And since that cat has been out of the bag for nine years, even if Trump were to drop dead this afternoon, that cat’s not going back into the bag for the next few decades. The right’s public discourse is now all about vulgarity, insults, violence and dishonesty.

And the supposed constitutional right to say anything they (and they alone) want without any recrimination.

Or disagreement.

Absolutely and I truly don’t get how TF they’ve been able to lie so spectacularly, and so frequently, and contradictoraly, without consequence.

Because most news organizations are run by the stockholders and the people that run the presses (so to speak) are forced to make a profit for those stockholders.

Correct, I fear his cabinet and appointees far much worse than Trump. Trump is a lazy goldfish chasing attention incapable of presenting any sort of plan. Remember “Infrastructure Week”?

It’s all of the little Stephen Millers running around unchecked that terrify me.

It is one big fear because they will support each other and create the nastiest feedback loop this country as seen in a long time.

I’ve seen a few articles out today saying Trump voters will resent their decisions in the near future. I call bullshit. In a year from now we could be in a recession, unemployment up, inflation up, everything falling apart and if you asked a Trump voter why they would say it’s not Trumps fault. Ask them how they came to that conclusion and they’d tell you because Trump said it wasn’t his fault.
Trump could announce he well intends to become a US dictator and his supporters would say “welllllll… maybe it’s not such a bad idea.” It’s like half this country has developed some weird Stockholm Syndrome with this guy.

I know, it’s like some trump-loving brain virus that has affected over half the US voting population.

trumplasmosis?

A billion things disappoint me about Trump supporters.

But one I simply can’t get my head around (beyond the usual ‘ignorance’ and ‘cult’ answers) is simple economics:

If you deport one or five or twelve or twenty MILLION hard working, (generally) low-paid workers from across this country, AND

You put tariffs on everything imported into the country – the overwhelming majority of what the majority of Americans buys regularly from Target, Costco, WalMart, and Amazon, and every single dollar or discount store in the country, then …

These people who viewed “the economy” and “cost of living” as their number one reason for voting for Trump …

What the ever-loving fuck do they think is going to happen to prices of everyday goods?

Oh, and housing may become more affordable … as vacancies skyrocket across the country, caused by mass deportations … but then the true stakeholders – those who own property – will be hit by whatever decline in home purchase and rent prices … first and hardest.

And what will happen to the price of stocks as the increase in cost of goods is passed along to consumers?

So it isn’t just the consumer class that gets hurt. It’s the corporations, their execs, and their shareholders – institutional and individual.

Particularly if we toss in more/permanent tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

Will the tariffs make up for the inevitable Treasury shortfall of the two single biggest MAGA policies that led them to vote for Trump?

Inquiring minds really do want to know.

Simple, if you believe that immigrants contribute absolutely nothing to the country besides crime. Then the rest of your egghead talk is obviously nonsense.

That is the point-They don’t think, they feel. Rich people have shown them that selfish assholery works and, like sports fanatics, they follow. It is religion at its basest, with simple solutions that just happen to tell them what they want, cartoon villains, and empathy for the tribe. All the logic in your post is just “blah blah blah” to them.

Well, sure. There’s always that.

One more thing: I think we’re up to something like 17% of housing units being purchased by institutional investors. If there is a mass deportation, and it does lead to another housing market crash, who do you/they think is going to swoop in and snatch it all up at distress sale pricing?

Doing what to the rental market in the coming years post?

“What the hell does kicking out illegals have to do with my rent? That makes no sense. This is the Democrats’ fault.”

Nope. Now, you’ve lost me.

There’s NO WAY they’d get a plural possessive right

There happens to be a word for shit unexpectedly coming back after a period of false complacency: Recrudescence.

Gah, you’re right!! Major egg on my face there.

"And because they don’t seem to be doing it openly, they must be doing it secretly!
