Fuck Trump and his followers

Fuckface von Clownstick has been on the front page for nearly a decade, every day. It probably would not even matter if they called out his BS. They chose to cover him relentlessly. His name was shoved in our faces and in our ears, every fucking day, and even if you avoided the media, you would have to be living in Nan Madol with no means of outside ommunication to not be sick of hearing about him.

Really, the media did not have to constantly push him forward like that, which was surely the biggest factor.

I used to handle immigration issues for my emploter (H-1B visas mainly), and it was a headache under the Trump immigration. I have since changed positions, and the woman who replaced me has been thinking of retiring to spend more time with her grandchildren. I expect she’s going to go ahead and retire once immigration becomes more difficult.

I knew what to expect from Trumpers by now, I have no new opinions to share about that.

What breaks my heart is the millions of people who were ready to wave it along just because the price of milk was high for a couple of years. Victims of the disinfo machine.

There are 2 't’s in “emplotter” ~ or did you mean to say “emploder”?

It’s tough typing on my phone.

Never mind.

I’m pleased, honored, and enlightened for having caught it before it went bye-bye

Yeah, I wasn’t sure if it was ok under Board rules.

What breaks my heart is the group text I got this morning from friends of mine that I grew up with, who still live in the same (now much redder) state and who are genuinely afraid of what this means for them.

What breaks my heart is how Kamala Harris must be feeling right now, with all the work she put in on very short notice. And how she had to call up that fat orange fuck and concede to him. I just can’t even.

What breaks my heart is that Joe and Jill Biden will have to welcome the fat orange fuck into the White House. I hope the only thing Joe leaves in his note to him (if he leaves anything at all) is, “God help you and the rest of the nation.”

They have the most personal stake of all. I am so glad I don’t have to act with grace toward someone who has proved over and over again he doesn’t deserve to lick the bottom of their shoes.

When I say “breaks my heart” I’m not talking about sympathy of course. It breaks my heart that millions of people looked on all of Trump’s fascist leanings and decided that it was more important to punish Dems for temporarily high grocery prices that happened after the pandemic.

That just makes me angry. How lazy. How stupid. How willfully ignorant. We live in a free society. It’s easier now than ever before to come to an informed opinion. But no. Why bother when I can blindly follow my orange Jesus right over a cliff, and who cares about anyone else?

As an atheist, the closest I can come to an actual “sin” is willful ignorance.

I hope the Bidens say fuck you and boycott the inauguration. And hide Limburger cheese in the Oval Office.

Speaking of which, isn’t he planning on nominating the judge presiding over one of his trials for a cabinet position? Or was that just something his flackies short-lsited for him?

What do you mean “could” and “would”. He did and they did.

Nah, durian would be more fitting.

It’s gonna be a long time before we know why everyone voted like they did. And yes of course I’m angry at anyone who put grocery prices over fascism. But I am also not disregarding the fact that the information environment may not have been totally conducive to people understanding that’s what the transaction was.

I think watching Fox News is a sin, it’s full of lies. But we now have people who have grown up with it and see it as just “the news”. And that’s before we even get into the weaponized mindfuck that’s Facebook and other social media. The modern human brain is ill equipped to deal with all of that.

I’m not excusing anybody just trying to gain a bit of nuance.

And unless you’ve been homeschooled and controlled by your parents your entire life, ALL information sources are still available to you. There’s a very large element of choice here. Information segregation - much of it completely voluntary - is every bit as harmful as physical segregation. The vast majority in these times is by choice. People choose not to engage in nuance. It’s too much work. And Og forbid anyone feels the least bit uncomfortable. We can’t have that these days.

Well said.

You’re assuming these people have a level of curiosity about other viewpoints that has constantly been beaten out of them for years. Blind faith in Christianity, following the rules that their fathers/ministers/teacher set, and never questioning authority are among the highest of ideals. It isn’t easy to escape decades of brainwashing.

That’s not half the voters in this latest cycle, though, is it? See my first sentence.

But it’s not just parents. It’s their church. It’s their schools. It’s their friends, their caregivers, their workplace, the entertainment they consume. Questioning authority or the disinformation they are fed are taboo.
