Fuck you, Apple!

What. The. Fuck.

The IOS9 “upgrade” removed the On-the-Go list from Podcasts?!? AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

Not only that, it keeps forgetting which podcast I’m listening to. I can’t start from the control center any more because it starts the wrong podcast, so now I’m constantly digging into the app.

This is nearly as bad as adding audio books to iBooks. Always having to jump in and out of the library for text vs. audio books.

Ugh. I haven’t even listened to a podcast since the update. I’m basically at a loss.

Omigod, and now I just learned the “Feed” for each podcast now only has the most recent ten episodes. :smack: One of the primary ways I used podcasts in the past was to go back and listen to podcasts recapping/reviewing TV episodes I only now am catching up on. That often means scrolling back through dozens or scores of episodes to download the one I want.

At this point, I think I need to just find a new podcast app. I can’t believe they destroyed this functionality so badly, and yet CNET is claiming it’s a huge improvement!

Cnet is paid to say that, I bet they even gave vista a good review.

Declan

I’ve been using Overcast, and I quite like it.

Oh wow, that’s disappointing to hear. I thought they were a legit, honest broker. Does any such site exist?

Thanks, I downloaded it and decided to just go ahead and pony up the five bucks. It actually has some drawbacks, but I decided that if I am forced to change the way I do podcasts, I like this way better than what Apple is trying to make me do.

It is frustrating though that my “usage” (memory/storage used) is now more than double what it used to be, even with a much more streamlined list of podcast episodes. Overcast does not, as far as I can tell, have any way to keep a list of episodes you’d like to listen to at some point without downloading them. Nor do I see a way to save certain episodes without changing the default of how many unplayed to keep (or for that matter to keep an episode after playing it, by marking it “unplayed” or just saving it).

So on the plus side, it’s forcing me to clear away a lot of the “clutter” I used to have, but I’m not entirely happy to be so constrained.
