Fuck You Cheney

This isn’t about the man’s politics, although I do hate them with the fury of 10,000 suns, this is about his scheduling skills. You DO NOT endear yourself to anyone when you schedule an appearance, then saunter back to the airport at a leisurly pace, shutting down every major highway you travel on for at least a half hour at THE HEIGHT OF RUSH-HOUR!!

Fuck nugget.

Someone’s got a case of the Mondays!

Cleveland, eh?

E.

Actually, I saved up this rant from last night.

Minneapolis. The commute home take me down 494, past the 35 interchange, then up 5 past the airport. Exactly that asshole’s route.

Heh. I got off lucky - didn’t notice a thing. SpouseO asked me if I’d hit any snarls due to the Veep being in the area, but nope. Just the usual for me. Sorry, man.

Hey NurseCarmen, I’m with you all the way. Nothing pisses me off quicker than having to give way to a fucking politician just because he/she has big woo woo lights.

Fuck them. They are civil servants, they should be giving way to us.

Yeah, I know the drill, VIP security and all that. But you know what? I call bullshit on that theory. By pushing your way through traffic and generally being a total bullprick you are calling attention to yourself, and thereby making a target of yourself. Security my scrawny arse.

It’s got nothing to do with security, and everything to do with power.

Fuck 'em.

I just leave some cookies and milk on the front porch. Then I call in sick for work. Then we have a party.

Okay guizot, did you post to the wrong thread, or what? Cuz ya got me stumped…

:stuck_out_tongue:

Ah. Thank you. I was wondering why it took me half an hour to go two blocks last night.

You know when you wake up and the cookies are gone, the Vice-President didn’t really eat them, right?

Is this the proper place to say “Clinton did it, too!!!”? (Of course, so did GW Bush, Gore, GHW Bush, Quayle, Reagan, Carter, Mondale, Ford, etc.)

Personally, I’ve been stuck in Bush, Gore, and Clinton traffic jams here in Austin. They each added to one or two days’ rush-hour. The net effect of each visit was about equivalent to a small rainshower (and the associated wrecks that occur when weather conditions aren’t absolutely perfect).

Your lucky it just happens to you once. In my home city, DC he shuts down streets every day to go to and from work. A former office mate of mine used to come in to work livid about Cheney.

Sumbich did that to me too a couple years ago. If you’re going to make your route so blatantly obvious by shutting down traffic, you may as make us a spectacle and make it an elephant and entourage parade with full on pomp and regailia. As for me? I manage to go miles at a time in a nondescript vehicle on open, full-use roads and nobody has a clue where I am until I announce myself. All things being equal, I’d opt for my mode of travel any day, especially if I ever suspected someone might want to put a missile in my ass. And Mr. Cheney, I can say with 100% certainty that someone out there DOES want to put a missile in your ass.

I believe I was once stuck in a Vicente Fox traffic jam.

Nothing stops New York City. YEE-HAW! Heck, we had the Republican Convention and you could hardly tell the difference.

You ain’t nothing, Cheney.

I was stuck in a Clinton traffic jam once, but it was at night, after rush hour. I just think it’s inconsiderate to leave right at the height of rush hour. Have the handlers schedule a different time.

Yeah. the veep just fills ‘em full o’ bird shot.

My office overlooks 494. If it makes you feel any better, as he cruised by I flipped him the bird and called him some filthy names. Also, his motorcade was much smaller the Bush’s when he came through back in '04. He only had two limos, a few Suburbans, an ambulance and a hell of a big truck, marked Bloomington Bomb Squad.

Oddly enough, the big US flag at Bobby & Steve’s Auto World was lowered to half staff about 30 minutes before Cheney came by. I can’t think of any reason for this, other than Cheney’s appearance. Am I missing something?

Come to think about it, the flag at work was at half-staff today. But thankfully, Cheney doesn’t hang out at my office.

[GQ hijack]Flags in Austin were at half-staff yesterday, as well, at the county and state offices, but not at City Hall. I went by City Hall first, so maybe those were lowered later.

Just a data point in another state. Anyone know why?[/GQ hijack]
