Actually, for some reason, I find Hydrocortisones post MUCH more offensive then I do the ones suggesting he should be raped. Maybe that could be a discussion?
Personally I belive it is mainly because as whereas the posts saying he should be raped are angry hyperboles, his comes across as serious. Also, his “insults” are directed at actual victims, people who have been raped, whereas the other insults are directed at the aggressor. Substitute the issue with for non-sexual violence and word it a bit different:
Hydro: “It’s ok to beat up people, people that get beaten up should just stop whining and try to enjoy it”
Someone else: “I’ll kick your ass, you idiot”
Mjeh. Didn’t come out very well, anyway, I think discussing THAT would possibly lead to some insight. Flaming Hydro will probably not, since Hydro seems immune to any and all forms of communication. Please re-read Gaudere’s earlier post in which we are all instructed NOT to suggest a poster be raped or to indicate in any way they should have this happen to them.

Yes I know, and yes it does seem somewhat logical. I am not, and was not, contending any of that. I hope I didn’t give the impression that I was. What I tried to communicate was that the initial post by Hydro was to me much more offensive then the following posts calling for the rape of Hydro, and that maybe THAT (unlike the topic) could be the grounds for a constructive debate.
If someone were to say “I think it would be best for everyone if we killed all black people, they obviously don’t contribute anything” I would be more offended then if someone said “I wish Michael Jackson was dead, he’s such an asshole”.
Both deal with the killing of blacks, but they are different. I can’t explain why my reaction is so different, or rather, I can’t communicate it (yet), so I thought it might be constructive to debate it.
Well, I know the mods don’t like the discussion of subtle interpretations of language, so I shall offer my profoundest apologies to Hydrocotizone for my unjust and totally uncalled-for comments. Henceforth, I will restrain my comments to OP’s similar to Hydrcortizone’s with a gentlemanly, “tut-tut.”

Rape is NOT about sex. It’s an exhibition of power. The rapist is forcing their target to submit to their will. They are getting off because they have control over the person. It can involve torture, severe beatings or simply forcing the target to pleasure them without the consent of said target.
In my case it involved me being forced into anal intercourse. I was asleep on the couch, and the guy came in, and subdued me, and forced himself on me.
I can ony hope that you never have something like this happen to you, then you will realize how much of an utter idiotic jerk you have been by bringing up such a debate in this manner.

The point was not merely to wish rape on him; that would be mere barbaric retaliation. My point (which was wrong) was to “Quantum Leap” him into a situation where he would experience the feeling of being raped, and thus gain some insight and empathy for rape victims.
How sad though, that that would appear to be what it would take for him to gather insight and empathy for rape victims.
FTR I don’t think any of you actually are hoping something like that happens to him. It just pushes all of our buttons when someone posts something so offensive and hurtful to so many.
