Fuck You, Judd Gregg

On the other hand, I am relatively unfamiliar with strangers’ assholes. I bow to your superior experience.

Of course not. If you were familiar with them, they wouldn’t be strangers, now, would they?

Time for bed for this one. It’s been a slice.

I just read that Obama has spoken up and said that he is opposed to any attempt to bring back the so-called Fairness Doctrine.

Since this was an issue that he appeared to be waffling on a few days ago (or at least this was the impression given by his press secretary) and which I appeared ready to criticize him for earlier in this thread, I thought this would be the appropriate place to congratulate him for not doing so.

For anyone who cares, I’m not all that unhappy with Obama so far. He’s a Democrat and therefore most of what he favors will be things that I oppose, but it’s been my hope that he’ll govern in a moderate way so as to benefit everyone and not just his constituency…and so far that appears to be the case.

I’m unhappy with the spending bill (because that is what it’s turned out to be) and I’m especially unhappy that Congress rushed it through as it did and that it arrogantly reneged on its promise to make the bill public 48 hours before the final vote, and I expect to be unhappy with its health care provisions once I learn more about them, but those aren’t necessarily Obama’s fault.

And I’m happy to see that Obama is standing strong with regard to Afghanistan and will be sending more troops there.

So all in all, and given the fact that I’ve loathed every Democrat president since Kennedy (who would be a Republican by today’s standards), the fact that I can even be neutral about Obama is saying quite a lot in his favor, yet I’d say that so far I’m probably about 55% favorably impressed with him.

Obviously his presidency is in its infancy and things could go south (or north) at any time, but so far so good, I think.

ETA. Link to statement regarding Fairness Doctrine.

Kennedy, a Republican?

You already claim Lincoln as your shining example; leave JFK alone.

Sorry. I guess I missed that post.

No no, don’t apologize. I’m thrilled I’m not the only one with that particular defect.
