Yeah, God knows that stimulus package was a whopping surprise. No one saw it coming.
Maybe not, but being a Secretary of Commerce means carring out the president’s policy on commerce.
What?

“Hussein” does not differentiate the two. But you know that. You’re just being a disingenuous dick.
Who said anything about calling him “Dubya”. That’s a pejorative. The question was raised about calling him “W”.
Do you bother typing that every time? If so, are you OCD?
Correct. And since Gregg could not, in good conscience, carry out that policy, he declined to be SoC.

Why didn’t he decline to accept the nomination? If he’s so fucking stupid that he didn’t know the president’s policies, then we’re a lot better off without him.
Regard what?
Give it up, Liberal. One, it’s off topic, and two, it’s been argued to death and he’s already decided he’s going to be intractable about it.
It doesn’t? Why is Obama’s late father’s middle name not Hussein?
But let’s assume that it is. (All the cites I could find give no middle name for his father.) Would you object if I referred to Obama as Junior?
He did, once he realized (to give his side of the story) how much he would have to compromise his principles.
Yes, and no, respectively. I won’t bother to cite where you posted in support of my sign off a few days ago, It now seems to bother you. I refuse to speculate as to why.

It was, idiot.
Furthermore, Barack Hussein Obama Sr. is known only for being his son’s father. There is no basis for confusion.
But if it gives you a chubby to call the President by a name that insinuates he’s a terrorist sympathizer, then go right ahead. The rest of us could use a good laugh.
Derision,

Could I get a cite for that?

Honest question: when you promote yourself for a job like this, how on earth does it take you until after the “announced the nomination and selected a replacement Senator for your state” phase to realize that you’ll be promoting more of his policies and less of your own? (Also, given that he voted to eliminate the Commerce Department, why did he want the job in the first place?)
To make this more explicit, we have two President George Bushes. How else are we to quickly distinguish between the two? Recall that frequently they were also referred to as Bush 41 and Bush 43. I won’t deny that Dubya was used mockingly by some, but there was a real reason behind calling him W/Dubya. There’s no similar reason to call Obama Hussein, except to giggle like children and then get all disingenuous when called on it. “But it’s just his middle name! wide-eyed innocence” You might as well start going “I’m not touching yooou o/~”
Here you go: Barack Obama Sr. - Wikipedia.
You want a cite for your being an idiot?
Sure. Your posts are my cite.

We accept your apology.
Reminds me of Flo & Eddie’s line about how Yngwie Malmsteen’s records were credited to Yngwie J. Malmsteen, apparently to distinguish him from all the other Yngwie Malmsteens in the music business.
That’s fucked up.
When have you ever needed to? Were you having lots of arguments about 9/11 only to find that your opponent thought you were talking about George H.W. Bush, confusing the debate?
Were you mocking the Bush tax cuts, only to have someone comment "Well, he did say “Read my lips, no new taxes!”?
Did you get confused when someone was talking about Bush’s time in the National Guard, thinking “Wow, WWII pilot AND NG pilot. He sure gets around!”
When you were bitching about the Bush stealing the election, did someone comment on Ross Perot?
I guess it’s possible. Just the other day, I commented “Boy, Bush sure left his presidency on a low note.”, and someone responded “Yeah, its a good thing we elected Clinton!”. Wow. Total miscommunicaton there! But now I see what the mix up was.
Heh. I would have thought that taking 10 seconds to check wikipedia would be worth not looking like a total fucktard. Guess not.
By the way, am I the only one consistently doing double-takes every time I see Gregg’s name? It just will not stop reading Judge Dredd.
He already did that in the Dept. of Labor.
Are you seriously contending that distinguishing between two presidents named George Bush, who served close to each other, is unnecessary? (Note: directed at Sinaijon)
Sarcasm doesn’t suit you. I could spend the weekend to go back through the last eight years of debate here on the board searching for the times it’s been necessary to clarify which Bush is being discussed, but given that it was never actually a topic in itself I suspect it’d be a hell of a lot of work. Suffice to say that it has come up pretty regularly, especially when past administrations get discussed alongside current, and your sarcasm now is misplaced.
John Stewart last night made a comment that just seems so applicable. (Paraphrased) “So is history starting now for you guys, and nothing existed before?”
