"I still haven’t gotten over the demise of Dangermouse. "
Me neither!
"I still haven’t gotten over the demise of Dangermouse. "
Me neither!
And their spin off, TVLand? Cancelled the all LA evenings!
Man, Emergency followed by Dragnet followed by Adam-12.
sigh
Damn, those shows are still burned into my cerebal cortex.
WSLer:
I’m supposed to record the damn things when MTV can’t decide when or if they’re going to air them? What was I supposed to do, sit around with a tape in the VCR waiting for Daria to come on? Hardly. I did start recording them towards the end, but it was a little late to catch the first season. MTV showed the series over and over in the beginning. I didn’t expect them to pull it.
JuanitaTech:
Thanks, but I already knew about that. I’ve caught a few episodes, but that just brings up new annoyances, like the inability of people to broadcast a show in its proper order. Grrrr.

Wait a minute, Nickelodeon is on during the day?? I seem to vaguely remember that from my younger days…something about Dangermouse and Bananaman…nope, it’s gone again. Well, back to Cheers.
I agree with your sentiments about Invader Zim because they did that last week also. I don’t know if they are getting ready to cancel Zim or if they have had problems in getting new episodes because they should have had more on by now. However, Ol’ Nick changes programs unexpectedly no matter how popular they are, like Real Monsters. Yet they ran that disgusting Ren and Stimpy for ages!!
Oh, I’m not defending Nickelodeon – sodomize to your heart’s content with the instrument of your choice! I was just sayin’, you know, I never put the idea of Nickelodeon and bricks together before.
Go to Kazaa, u may find some interesting Invader Zim downloads.
Invader Zim was cancelled as of, IIRC, Jan. 17. Jhonen Vasquez said it himself:
Basically, the Christmas episode was the last one that squeaked by production. There were several other episodes (including one with an alternate ending in which ZIM dies) that exist only in storyboard and script. Meaning that we’ll probably never see them.
sezyou, KaZaA is great, but also there’s also a site with almost all the episodes that have already aired, and they’re pretty damn good quality.

And as for forcing myself to like The Powerpuff Girls… NEVER!!!
and nostalgia/good life TV/WOR stopped showing the streets of san francisco! i gnash my teeth.
I read that Nick was canceling a few of their cartoons because the artists wanted to unionize, and rather than deal with that Nick just scrapped their shows. I think Spongebob Squarepants was one of these, but they must have done something because the show is still on almost every time I watch TV. (Not often, and FTR, I like Spongebob.)
It’s possible the other shows fell prey to some sort of similar fate. (They were canceled for reasons other than being unpopular.)
I never saw Zim. I sort-of like the Powerpuff Girls. They’re on Cartoon Network, not Nick, though, aren’t they?
As for why ZIM was cancelled, not entirely too sure. Nick will say the ratings were lousy.
And how could they not be, with a time slot like this: Friday at 9:30 PM (although lately from what I’ve heard, they only show half an episode at this time), Saturday at 4 & 4:30 AM, and Sunday at 1 & 1:30.
Methinks they never gave Zim much of a chance, as they didn’t understand Jhonen Vasquez (and Vasquez didn’t understand Nick). After 9/11, so many cuts were made on each episode it was ridiculous; like a scene in which a girl had her leg stuck in a gopher hole was cut up because it made rescue workers look incompetent.
Well, anyway, I wish Vasquez would have just said no to Nick and came up with a show for Sci-Fi, or maybe released a Johnny the Homicidal Maniac show for Showtime or HBO.
Why do you bring up such painful memories for me? Those shows were my life. I loved eah and every one of them soooo much. I think I am going to go cry now.
Last time I checked around the Nick webpage (or was it the TV channel?), they were promoting something about Invader Zim for August 25.
Yeah, Karl, they’ve still got a view episodes they haven’t aired yet. By cancelled, Nick means they will not be purchasing new episodes.
irken, I wonder if the odd time slots are because the show is rated Y7?
Nice name and sig, by the way.
I guess the Y7 rating could be a possible reason, but still, bumping half an episode for the debut of some Dexter’s Laboratory knockoff? Nickelodeon’s just afraid of having something as, er, dark as ZIM. Oh well, it’ll just give Jhonen Vasquez time to finally get back into comics.
If you want, you could search for petitions to keep ZIM on the air, but it’s almost completely futile to do so. Perhaps instead, a petition should be started to get Nick to release a DVD.
Thanks, though, Juanita! After seeing the episode called Door to Door, I wanted to change to Poop Dog, Gangsta Specta of Defeat. Damn.
Now, Dib… I leave you to your… moosey fate!
Well, I stopped watching TV all together after they canceled Star Trek: The Animated Series.
irken, he was SO funny.
What is with that show and poop? Remember when GIR became the house’s computer? When he went to the drive thru (with one of my favorite lines…after a long pause…“What kind of drinks you got?”) the taco human says they have Classic Poop, New Poop, Diet Poop…
I’ve been wanting to change my user name to either Moosey Fate or A Room with a Moose for a while now.
On preview, I see you’ve changed your sig. That ep will always be my favorite because it’s what got me started on all things Zimminess.
Hell, I even started calling my car the Voot Cruiser! My fiancee and I have to bleach our eyes after every trip we make to Hot Topic because of all the Zim/Johnny the Homicidal Maniac/Squee merchandise, and curse to the sky, “Damn you, Vasquez!! DAMN YOU FOR MAKING ME BROKE!!”
Yours,
Poop Dog… yo!
