So if they are issuing licences they have intentionally rendered invalid, and accepting payment for them… Isn’t that some form of fraud? I did a Google search and I see the licences cost around $37.00. If a couple paid for that licence, and then got married,and then the office that issued it said it was invalid, would they have to refund the cost of the licence? Weddings can cost tens of thousands of dollars too - would a couple whose licence was intentionally invalidated have any recourse to recoup the costs of their wedding?

Well that’s interesting. We expected someone would question the validity of the licenses, but I for one didn’t expect it would come from within her office. This was done as part of the “keep the judge updated” requirement and here is a pdf of the filing.
I think Brian Mason deserves a round of applause, he seems to have been trying to follow the law and issue licenses all along. According to his filing, he is now the only one issuing licenses so the others don’t have to be stressed about it, although the others are ready to issue them in his absence.
This guy needs to run for County Clerk.
Someone needs to buy that man a drink.
