I have pictures of me in a kilt and I was damn proud to wear it, you puritan pukes.
And yet you want to name your son Tiano, so you can’t be all that concerned about teasing.
I can see why people object to these kind of events. By making it a spectacle, they are defining it as unusual behavior. We should be culturally enlightened, by now, to the point where clothing styles know no gender, and dresses and skirts get worn by whoever wants to, anytime they want. I’m sure that’s what they were really trying to say.
But then I’m reminded of the time I put on a dress and was turned into a girl. The cooties were particularly difficult. But I was so adorable!
I’m very tempted to send Voice of Christian Youth America a picture of me wearing a Victoria’s Secrect push-up bra and a pair of men’s cargo pants from L.L. Bean. Let 'em wrap their tiny, closed minds around that.
I know non-christians who would have a problem with this…I wouldn’t have a problem with it…But I had a friend who almost divorced his wife because she put girls clothes on his infant son. It’s not just a religious thing.
They are part of the public and they absolutely have a right to bitch if they see something done ina public school that they think is not good for the kids…
They also vote, and the public schools are going to take notice of a group of voters who are concerned, as they should.
saying its dumb to get worked up about something like this is fine…but saying that these people have no right to express their opinion on how their schools are run is wrong, and it feeds the persecution complex these people have going and thats the last thing we want…and saying that a school district has nothing to fear from them is naive…Thats how we get things like abstinance only education and disclaimer stickers about evolution on text books.
I’ll save you the trouble, send it to me - I’ll forward it to them…

But who has said that these people have no right to complain?
Most of us are sitting here wondering what has caused this radio station to get its knickers in such a twist about this, NOT that they shouldn’t say anything. Most of us are sad to see that the school has caved to this strident and militant group. The kids wanted to do it; the parents made no formal objections. Of course a taxpayer should be able to speak his or her concerns, but is this the correct venue to do so? Why not call the principal or go to a board meeting? The fact that this was relayed over the radio and after the fact tells me that this was NOT a parental concern, but a rabble-rousing media event.
The ire seen here and this talk of transvestites–what the hell? Has no kid ever played dress up in your world, blinking? My sons used to wear my high heels (such as they are, I hate heels), my clip on earrings and carry purses around the house. Oddly enough, they grew out of this phase and neither of them have caught Teh Gay. It’s early days yet, though, so I’m on the watch for it, brochure in hand to send them to a retraining camp for wayward boys…
Kids are so controlled these days, so unable to use their imaginations or creativity. Dressing up is kid theater. It’s a shame these “concerned citizens” can’t see that.
THe OP, pretty much.
The christian youth disk jockeys can complain but the OP shouldn’t?
My deceased father would have taken this as yet one more sign that America has gone to hell.
He completely came upglued when my older sister bought some boys’ jeans in high school because they happened to fit better than the girls’ jeans.
People keep saying that. But then gay marriage bans are put on the ballot, and universally pass, even in liberal states – so apparently a majority of them are religiously homophobic.
OP can…they can…I was comenting on the sentiment that they are sticking their nose in where it doesnt belong…thats all.
While of course conservative Christians will vote that way, one doesn’t have to be religious to be homophobic. Here’s a list of personal factors that contribute to homophobia: unsure masculine identity, fear of sexual objectification, reaction formation, sexual envy fueled by stereotype, intimacy envy, erotophobia, and possibly the fear of death. Societal conditions include a disconnect between mind and body, an intense need to prove one’s manhood, the fear of the erotic, and fear in general. I’m paraphrasing from James B. Nelson’s article Sources for Body Theology: Homosexuality as a Test Case from Sexuality and the Sacred: Sources for Theological Reflection.
I said "I am saying that I think that if the school made it explicit what kind of dress-up day they were having there would have been surely one parent who objected.

Just try to work out why your thinking in this sentence is illogical. You appear to possess some grey matter. If you spend 8-9 hours just on this, you should be able to understand. I expect no more posts from you today as you should be working on this.
I would have expected someone who chooses the name Diogenes to have some knowledge of logic
Dude, it was petulant the first time, childish the second. Perhaps you could spend the day figuring out why nobody cares.
Being stupid is one thing. It can lead to irritating exchanges, but it is certainly forgivable. When your stupidity becomes aggressive, rendering you not only immune to attempts to reduce your own stupidity, but also trying to replicate itself in other hosts, then it becomes more than simply irritating.
For the love of humanity, stop being so aggressively stupid if you can.
I never heard of VoCYA till this story broke. Then I saw it’s somehow affiliated with a radio broadcast called CrossTalk. THAT I know about. They are fringe-fundies, maybe only to the left of Phelps. To that bunch, Promise Keepers, Purpose-Driven Life, Christian rock music, Dobson & other C’tian psychologists, etc. are all unBiblical compromisers with the world.
Kids, fly your freak flags & tell that bunch to shove off!
I think pretty much any much newspaper trumps “Wild Fucking Guesses with blinkingblinking.”
This thread is actually king of funny in the absurdity of some of the responses.
Logic indicator light is blinkingblinking, blinkingblinking, and… off.
Appropriate dress is the heart and core of Biblical values? Why, is it at the exact middle?
Enough of that; let’s here from people objecting to strikes against values that are mentioned throughout the Bible; namely, God objects to false Gods (like putting your career higher than fairness and kindness), bullying, and judgmental hypocrisy.

I don’t really know what point you’re trying to make, but all you’re accomplishing is embarrassing yourself. You should stop unless you want your behavior in this thread to be permanently associated with your ID on this board.
