Come on man, that was some funny shit. It brings back memories of first or second grade. You know standing in the corner is what’s coming next.

I’ll save you the trouble, send it to me - I’ll forward it to them…

Too late.

Not necessarily, at least as far as choral programs go. Many traditionally religious songs are done, simply because they are classical, traditional pieces.

True, but that’s usually at the high school level, and done, as you say, because of the quality of the music and not because of the message.

Basically, I agree with John Mace and bdgr on this, that the community has the right to express their opinions about what goes on at the public schools. I think it’s a little nutty, and I’m not sure how much weight their opinions ought to have with the school, if the parents don’t care. But, we all have the right to take some kind of stand about the things that are funded with our tax dollars. I don’t have kids in the public schools yet, and I get irritated at some of the stuff that goes on there. If I had a radio show, I might very well complain about it, and that’s my right as a citizen.

I’d certainly agree that we all have a right to express an opinion about pretty much anything, more so when we pay for it.

My problem here is not just the complaint, but the fact that I think the complaint itself as opposed to the complained about activity is harmful to the children concerned.

It isn’t that it is sending a message that cross-dressing is wrong. AS stated, I don’t see this as cross-dressing. What it does to the children is teach them that something that was totally 100% innocent to them, an idle game of dress up, is something that might be bad. Indeed, something that might damn them to hell. People like the hosts of this radio show complain about sex on TV corrupting children - but it is actually their activities like this that warp kids’ minds. They see sex everywhere, even where it is not present.

I approve this message.

Had never run into this wanna-be Bush from Down-Under before, but unless I find some redeeming qualities in any future posts of his, I’m left with the impression that yet another closeted cumstain has been outed on the SDMB.

Never a pretty sight.

Appreciate the gender correction, but I don’t think I’m interested in that thread. After all, it’s her I wanted to “name.”

Must be the cologne. Or is it the goatee? :dubious:

must be the cologne (prays it’s not Old Spice. hate the smell of Old Spice).

I think you might be interested in the that thread. YMMV…

Wow. About 10 years ago, in a public school, I had a bunch of 6th graders do a WHOLE play where genders were completely switched. Boys in skirts and dresses, girls with ties and mustaches. The kids had a BALL. The parents and the other kids in the school thought it was the most hilarious thing they’d ever seen. For some reason, no one EVER thought we were making a statement about transgender issues.

The whole thing was about a magic spell gone wrong.

Go figure.

(For the record: The play was student-driven, meaning that with the help of a scribe (yours truly), they wrote the darn thing…)

In the parliamentary sense, I trust.

Your prayers have been answered. Azzaro (the original fragrance) man here for over thirty years.

Because I trust you judgment, I did briefly check it out. Tiano? Other than much preferring my son (named William as proof of my own fertile imagination when it comes to naming babies) in drag than calling him that…there are no words. Poor kid.

Interesting tidbit, thanks. The equivalent of a “time-out” for adults.

Yeah, I can work with that.

I might have missed it, but did blinkingblinking ever come back and acknowledge that the parents were indeed informed (and didn’t complain) of exactly what the expectations were for this dress-up day, or did she just bow out after being shown that that was the case?
