Fuck You, Vote Democrat

How incredibly arrogant to presume.

And where did you come across that crazy idea? It’s MY vote, so it is absolutely about ME. :dubious:

After years of fighting ACA and pre-existing conditions coverage, repubs have been campaigning that DEMOCRATS want to take away pre-existing condition coverage. These people are morons with the attention span and memory of a gold fish.

Fuck 'em, really. I have no problem telling them what idiots they are. Who the fuck is reminding these people to breath?

Thanks to your exhortations, we’ve taken the house!

Seeing as not voting Democrat means that Trump continues to fuck up everything unopposed, it’s not arrogant at all. It’s true for everyone in the country, other than those who conspired with him.

And that crazy idea is just a little thing I call the basic underlying principle of democracy. We the people are in charge of this country, ultimately, and thus, as its leaders, we are responsible for it.

It’s also called being a patriot, and wanting to Make America Great. It’s not great if it only helps you, now is it?

Again?

[QUOTE]

Yes, really. I don’t have children, but I vote for more money for schools. I don’t use public transportation, but I vote for it. I don’t use our recreation facilities, but I vote for that as well. Same goes for better health care (where I work is self insured).

Ya see Gatopescado, some of us actually want to live in a world of educated happy healthy people.

I agree, enipla.

This is basically my view, but it led to a somewhat bitter disagreement between my 18-year-old son and me earlier tonight. He was getting very disgruntled about the direction things were headed (this was around the time when 538 was putting Democratic odds of taking the House at under 50 percent, and it was looking like 2016 all over again) and complained that Democrats had obviously nominated poor candidates with a bad message. I countered that sometimes you just have to blame the voters. What you are referring to is exactly my point. If candidates can work for most of two (or six) years toward Policy X, and then right before the election in response to polling data showing Policy X is deeply unpopular, state that “I actually oppose Policy X” and the electorate says “oh, okay, great: I will just take your word for that!” then not only are they rewarding dishonesty, in some sense they are deeply undermining democracy and you can’t blame the other party’s candidate at that point.

But are you really that disappointed overall? I mean, the results are not what I predicted and hoped for, but significantly increasing the number of House districts that lie in states with Democratic governors ahead of redistricting in 2022, not to mention retaking the House and restoring the franchise to 1.4 million felons in the crucial swing state of Florida ahead of 2020? I think this is not so bad. Not so bad at all.

Ehh. Yeah you do have to blame the voters. To a point. The problem is really that anyone with more money, can be a bigger liar that is believed by those that don’t seek truth, and facts. But here’s the thing. Democrats did not nominate bad candidates. Republicans just lie. Again and again and again.

And it works.

I don’t know every nuance or codicil or amendment. It does take a few, and a few more years to recognize bullshit. Republicans are bullshit. 10lbs in a 5lb bag.

I was moderate leaning left. But now. Heh. I would have been VERY happy if the republican party was really shown the road on this election. It MAY have had forced them to re-evaluate their… stance and priorities. They are currently a mob of rich white men with a bunch of screaming supporters that I wouldn’t trust to tell me the time of day.

It may be true that the Democrats don’t have a real strong stance on some things. But that’s OK. The good things are good. Pro-choice. Pro-education. Health care. Freedom of Religion. And sure, we should start looking at gun ‘control’ (I’m a gun owner).

I’m generally happy with this election. I suppose it could have been worse.

You yelled “GIMME THE D” at your polling site? Did you get any strange looks?

**penultima thule ** is Australian? Why that’s downright un-American.

Sure, we all do. But what do you do when other people say,* “Vote how we tell you to. We know what’s better for you.”* when they really don’t?

And, to be clear, I wasn’t saying self-interest is irrelevant. But it shouldn’t be the guiding principle of why you vote: you should always consider what’s best for your country.

No one I hope, if ya get my meaning…

Taking back the House is a BIG deal. For one thing, it means two of the worst Russian stooges - Nunez and Roharbacher - are gone. It means maybe some REAL House investigations into Trump and Russia can start. It means maybe the Meuller probe can see less interference and obstruction. It means maybe there will be some action on Emoluments and self-dealing by Trump. It means he can’t just rule by decree anymore.

But he is so “conciliatory and contrite” now. He’s now making threats that if anyone dares investigate him, he will investigate them and have his Senate flunkies do it tioo. Fuck him and them.

SO,… any Repubs and concern trolls can take their making up and fence mending and shove it up their asses.

You don’t make deals with dominionists, racists, fwhite supremacists, ascists, Nazis and traitors. You investigate, indict, and convict them.

Let’s see if the Democratic Party stands for some moral principles and justice now.

Trump lost last night. No matter HOW he and his trolls spin it. Time to go to work.

So, who gets to make that call? You? Me? Donald? Hillary?

Hey, I got an idea. How about we vote, and everyone gets a say?

Well, obviously, you don’t vote how they tell you to.

OTOH, when they really DO (as evidenced by you having a history of voting for Republicans), you go ahead and vote how they tell you to. Duh-doy. :dubious:

DO you have a history of voting for Republicans?

You voted for Johnson. Well, just fine. But guess what, the asshole in charge. That guy that is as dumb as a rock. The guy that is a racist misogynistic criminal, is making decisions that will affect you, or at least the future of the country.

Just a heads up. Trump doesn’t give a fuck about you, me or the future other than keeping his own ass out of prison. That’s it. Full stop. Oh hey, he just fired Sessions. Things are bad, real bad when that racist is the protagonist of the story.

We knew this could happen. Voting for Johnson, or Sanders let it happen. Sometimes, you just have to take the bitter pill. Beats a bullet to the head. Trump is not a normal President. He wasn’t a normal candidate. He has issues that will be studied long into the future. We KNEW THIS. This is beyond everything we’ve ever seen. We have a burglar in the house, and half the country doesn’t care.

(FYI, one of my dearest friends voted for Sanders, I warned her. She didn’t change her mind. She just couldn’t believe that there was any way in hell that trump could win. SHE said that the WOMEN of America will save us :smack: )

Look, you deal with all the pent up stress from the past two years in your way and I’ll deal with it in mine. I may have only thought it really hard, but she saw the look in my eye. Oh yes she did.

And you’re welcome, bobot!

What is this thread was titled “Fuck You, Move out of the City”, or “Fuck You, Become a Scientologist”, “Fuck You, Move to the City”, “Fuck You, Become an Accountant”, “Fuck You, Be Transgendered”, “Fuck You, Start a 400 Acre Pot Farm”…

Goddamn this place! Didn’t we just go through months and months of argument in which we could have lost nearly half of the community behind complaints of misogyny and homophobia, hate speech…

So lets just move on to demonize and vilify anybody who doesn’t vote or support the hive-mind.

Fucking sad, really. And nobody tells me how to vote. I can read, and I know what my best interests are. See, that is what we call an “opinion”. Try to shut me down, and we’ll have a fight.

Anybody telling other people how to vote are as big an Asshole as gerrymandering fuck-wits and voter-suppressing cock-suckers. Plenty of both on every side.

Well, no. Who the Fuck is Johnson? Oswald put Johnson in the White House. My voting record is my business. I value the Secret Ballot like a good blow-job.

So, Suck Me (since this is the Pit)!

Uh, no. Gerrymandering and voter suppression are unconstitutional assaults on voting rights.

Telling other people how to vote is just exercising your constitutional freedom of speech in a bossy way.

IMO unconstitutionally interfering with other people’s voting rights rates way higher on the asshole-o-meter than merely giving other people annoying lectures or scoldings about how you think they should exercise their voting rights.
