Fuck You, Voters

Quoted for truth. You could look it up.

In what way does Chessic Sense exhibit a major misunderstanding of the tax system?

A lot of things in the news would have been different, but no, none of the items you mentioned affected me personally. Emotionally, certainly – I was in tears after 9/11 like everyone else. But nothing in my life was that different. Oh yes – airport security. That’s kind of a pain now. So that’s something that’s affected me.

Yesterday, the citizens of Massachusetts voted to NOT decrease the sales tax by over 50%. Please explain.

That’s true. I did think you made that mistake. I’ve seen so many people make it.

I think you’re a moron, so I was even more likely to think you made it. I was wrong.

Shit. I know, I know. But I had about 20 seconds to think of something that’s reoccuring, easily treatable, and nonfatal. I fudged the last part and hoped no one would notice. Well, you try it, Mr. Smarty Pants! 20 seconds…go.

And I have no idea if it’d be lower than it is now. On the one hand, you’ve got things like the post office, which seem to run pretty smoothly and cheap. On the other, you’ve got programs like just about every transit system in a major city (at least the cities I’ve lived in, anyway) that is always broke, mechanically and fiscally. I trust the government with my money as far as I can throw the Capitol building. So while they say it’ll be cheaper, I highly doubt that it will pan out that way. That’s why I said upthread that “I highly doubt” people will like it in a few years.

Commie fascist liberals, the lot o’ ya.

I really should start using smilies. I think it’s obvious when I’m joking and when I’m not, but then again, I’m in a thread with Dio and Starving Artist.

Fuck me - I’m the goddam Pit!

I’m supposed to stay out of here, but I can’t avoid reading a post by SFG, ah reckon!

backs out slowly

Q

Is this what you consider to be proper debating technique? You say one thing, I respond, then you respond in a way that gives the impression that what I was responding to was something completely different from what you said. This is the pit so I guess it’s not against the rules.

Interesting. Either your and Chessic Sense can’t read English or you both went to the same school of debating (non-)techniques. Like I said to Chessic Sense, it’s in the pit so I guess it’s not against the rules.:rolleyes:

Well, I might go with hypertension, but then again, I would probably devote 10 of the 20 seconds to typing “treatable medical conditions” into a search engine such as google so that I could bolster my argument.
As far as the effect of people with chronic illnesses without HCI that use ER’s for all of their needs, here’s a nice link that could be enlightening:
2005 article

If you really want government spending to go down, you should be actively discouraging people from going into military service. Where do you think the money for soldiers’ pay comes from?

Not to mention all those pesky veteran’s benefits. At least for a while longer.

The USPS runs several billion dollars in the red each year. There’s talk of doing away with Saturday service as a way to stop the bleeding, but cutting the hourly guys’ wages is not going over well with the APWU.

Why do you hate America?

A US Army platoon and a US Senators’ staff are roughly equivalent in size, with the staff maybe having less people.

How do you think the payroll compares?

So what is your fucking point?

That’s cute. Doesn’t answer the question, but, ya know, cute.

I’d still like an explanation for how it clearly disputes this:

If this were true, there would BE no ‘liberals’. Essentially, you’ve projected your failure of imagination onto all of humanity. Not cute.

Are you still bitter because no one wants to rape you? Sheesh, some women.

Oh darn! I seem to have missed the hijack again.

You realize that the quoted unemployment rate you see in the newspapers and financial websites is merely reflective of those who are looking for work, but can’t find any, right? That the actual effective unemployment rate (which includes those of age who have stopped looking) always is much higher?

They aren’t one and the same-many corporations, to name just one aspect, are based overseas and don’t primarily consist of US citizens. If the ability of said foreign corporations to buy elections, thanks to Citizen’s United, doesn’t scare you, I don’t know what else to tell you.

As for the environment…you should be afraid-very afraid; this “fearmongering” retort is just empty rhetoric-would you call someone who warned you of an incoming tsunami a “fearmongerer”? In addition to global warming and the associated effects (loss of those oxygen-producing and keystone of oceanic ecosystems phytoplankton being just one of many), we’ve got eroding soils (oops no more crops), exhausting of various vital resources (including but most definitely not limited to oil-helium may run out in 20 years or so, and there’s also the loss of many water tables), overpopulation, and far too many others to list. The fact is that modern civilization has been borrowing far too heavily for far too long from our planet-and the bill is about to come due sooner or later, just like a reckless driving inveterate drunk will end up wrapped around a telephone poll, sooner or later-just cause he hasn’t yet is no reason to conclude he never will.

I realize the above involves facts, and you apparently are a rather fact-challenged person, but you, along with everyone else, is going to get hit with that huge tidal wave at some point, and it won’t be pretty. Perhaps then you’ll realize just how deeply and perniciously you’ve been lied to-ah probably the fuck not. Continue living in your dream fucking world and voting for your most mortal enemies while thinking they’re your “friends.”

Though I’m not a Republican, I’m not upset. If the Repubs actually do defund Obamacare and shrink the size of the government, then it’s a good thing.
