They just traded Paul Lo Duca, Juan Encarnacion, and Guillermo Mota to the Marlins.
Dickwads.
Get rid of Nomo…sure. He hasn’t done shit all year. Dump Dreifort…ok. See note for Nomo. They are in freaking FIRST PLACE for a change, and they just traded their only decent catcher, who has a great on-base percentage, and their best fielder, and a pretty damn good reliever.
Shitheads!
Alright…calmer now. This whole deal may include getting Randy Johnson to LA, which would be a good thing, but I fucking HATE it when teams trade away players I like to watch!
It’s worse than that. We got Charles Johnson back. At the suprisingly low price of 9 million per!
Johnson is a slouch in LA. We had for over a hundred games, and he showed no spark at all. And to quote Crash Davis, he “couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a freakin’ boat!”
Your GM’s a genius next to mine. We just traded our best hardnosed player, our club leader in Runs scored and RBIs last year AND our top pitching prospect AND our top catching prospect, and got two older pitchers, one whom (maybe both of whom) is/are going to be free agents after this year, to bolster a pitching staff on an under .500 team that, but for the last-place EXpos, would be in the cellar where they finished the last two years.
A smiley face? HA! That implies a happiness, a lightness to baseball than any Giants fan knows does not truly exist! Only if your main interest is in how to best avoid traffic, to make sure you do the wave in unison, and to remember the beach ball, could you use a happy face!
Baseball is not about happy faces. Baseball is about freezing in July, about pain and heartbreak and lousy lousy relief pitching and IF ONLY HE COULD GET A FREAKING PITCH TO HIT, YOU CHICKENS.
I think I’ve spent too much time in Chicago. There’s too much baseball-related pain in this city and it’s beginning to rub off on me.
I have to admit that assuming the other deals LA is planning come off, this does seem to make them a better team. It’s a downgrade at catcher offensively, but the offense would be better overall with Choi replacing Encarnacion, and the defense probably saves a few runs with Green back in his natural position and Johnson replacing Lo Duca. and Randy Johnson is obviously worth far more than Guillermo Mota.
It does, however, seem to be a plan to make the Dodgers much older, with the two Johnsons and Finley having once played with Moses. Better hope they win this year.
Not really. They get some age with those guys, but Penny and Choi are substantially younger than Lo Duca and Encarnacion and Mota. Gotta look on the bright side…
