Fucking lawn mowing at 10 AM cocksucker!

I like to play the piano at ten in the morning on Saturdays. With good thunderous crashing chords, too. Especially when my upstairs neighbor woke me up when he stumbled in drunkenly at four AM.

(Not directed at you, LouisB, but to all who express this sentiment)

What time did you go to bed last night? Because I feel exactly the same fucking way about people who go to bed before midnight.

What were you doing at 3:30 this morning? Asleep, were you? Well, I was alternating between watching the stars out in my backyard, catching up on my reading, and taking advantage of the off-peak internet hours.

Why is it that people who go to bed early and get up early are considered go-getters, but those who go to bed late and get up late are lazy bums?

I’ll carpe the fucking diem when everyone else carpes the fucking noctem. (Apologies for my Latin there, by the way.)

Manhattan - What it says about me, is that I can only get dates with men who can’t actually see me. :frowning:

Ahhhhhhhhhh. . . . Now you know the true reason I’m not a super model.

10:00am, you’re still in bed, and you have kids?"

sigh My son (9) hasn’t slept past 7:00am for years. My weekend alarm clock is usually either, “Scooby dooby doo, where are you?” or “I wanna be the very best–the best there ever was…”

Dr. J, last night I went to bed just after midnight except I fell asleep on the sofa. And this is true, at 3:00 AM I was up because my wife woke up and went to the kitchen for a drink of water. She woke me up to tell me to go to bed! Sound asleep and she woke me up just to tell me to go to bed! What the hell is up with that? So I went to bed and went back to sleep. I always do what Marcie tells me.

And I know people like to sleep late–I find it very difficult to sleep later than 6:30 AM but Marcie will cheerfully spring out of bed at the crack of noon, given a chance.

Actually, I was just ragging Kelli.

Hello Prismo. You just scored another 2 stars on the Asshole Index.
Kelli, 10 am is a fine time to mow the lawn. And I echo Rysdad’s sentiment: what are your kids doing at 10 am? Still asleep??

Well I can beat Kelli’s story. This morning my mom had the nerve to come in at 11:00 and yell at me “Wake up! I’m already home for lunch and you aren’t even out of bed!” This was NOT appreciated, since I do not go to bed before 2:30 AND I was having a beautiful dream involving me and Jon Bon Jovi. Sigh
The point is, some crazy people go to bed at 10 and wake up at 7, and they lead happy lives. Some crazy people go to bed at 3:30 and wake up at noon, and they lead happy lives. We all just have to learn to adjust to each other, and DEAL WITH IT!

Oh, and Coldy, he only score 2 stars? I was thinking an easy 4.

kelli I am pretty sure I read you are in Canada and I suppose it doesn’t get terribly hot there, but where I used to live in Texas, you bet you sweet ass I would be mowing by 8:00 Saturday morning. My feelings were I needed to avoid heatstroke a lot more than my neighbors needed to sleep in late.

Really. We’re here for you to sympathize and help defend against the tyrrany of the diurnofascists. Down with daytime!!
(Please note the time of this post. I might be going to bed in another hour or so. Maybe.)

Hubby mowed the lawn at 9am yesterday. However, that was an exception because the neighbors were having a family reunion this weekend and that was the best time for THEM. We didn’t want his guests to have to listen to the Scag making its rounds while trying to catch up on great grandma’s hip problem, you know. And we can expect the same courtesy from them.

Because we try to be good neighbors to each other. They let us know about this all-weekend long shindig several weeks ago, not only so we could come up with a mutually agreeable lawn mowing schedule, but so that we’d feel we could call him if the music got too loud, etc.

So my advice, Kelli, is to try and talk to them. Not about the lawn mowing at first, but just be civil and say “Nice day, huh?” the next time you see them. Ask him to watch the place when you’re gone. Simple things like that. Wave when you see them. Open the lines of communication so that, eventually, you can approach him about his lawn mowing habits and laughingly confess that 10am is really too early for a night owl like yourself. Chances are, if he’s a decent guy, he’ll wait an hour or two. But you have to give a little, too. 10 is really NOT an unreasonable time, IMO, but I’ll bet he’d be willing to put it off for another hour if he knew it really bothered you.

Good luck!

P.S. It’s 9am and my 8 and 6 year old are still sleeping. BWA-HA-HA!!

Geez. If I woke up at 9:00am, and my son wasn’t up yet, I’d be dashing into his room to see if he was still breathing!

Hmph.

A beautiful dream involving Bon Jovi? Were you murdering him?

Must. . . scrub. . . eyeballs. . . after. . . reading. . . this. . .

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeck!!!

Add me to the list that thinks that 10am isn’t too early to mow the lawn. It’s too hot in the afternoon, so that’s really the latest time that you could really start on and be stuck mowing during the hottest part of the day. Evening is no good because I seriously know people who go to bed at 8 pm. Grown adults.

I am a night owl myself, and rarely go to sleep much before 2 am even when I do have to be up early the next day. I also used to bartend until 4 am. I have never expected all of my neighbors to live on my wacky schedule. 6 am I would say is early to be making noise. But 95% of the neighborhood is usually awake by 10 am, and the other 5% can just put a pillow over their head. With different people having different schedules, you can always count on someone working all night shifts, someone who starts work at 5 am, and a bunch of people who usually work 8-5. Or something like that. If you’re firing up the lawn mower, SOMEONE will be asleep. You can’t take a poll first. Just do your best to make sure that MOST people will be up.

Have you seen his latest video? I think the song is called “It’s My Life”. He looks good in that video. I don’t even like him that much, especially the way he looked in the 80’s. But he’s pretty cute now. Though you are right, I should have been dreaming of someone else…like the lead singer of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers Drool

Guilty as charged. I’m up on Saturday at 7 am mowing the grass. If I waited until 10 I’d die of a heat stroke. But I only mow every other Saturday. In the summer here it gets to 95 real quick, with 85% humidity, after about 9 am you can’t do much outside in more than 10 minute spurts. I have to admit most of my neighbors do their mowing late afternoon/evening. But after working 9-10 hour days, then a 45 minute commute, I don’t have much energy to work outside.

PLEASE!!! we live in the country, have only one neighbor, and haven’t mowed the lawn in about 4 years (we’re looking to be designated a prarie soon). BUT, OUR neighbors yesterday, started a Skeet shooting gallery. Now, living in the country, you get used to the odd gunshot (I used to live in the inner city and was used to it there, too), but at least in both THOSE cases, it wasn’t an “every few seconds for several hours” yeck!. So, PLease move next to us, we promise not to mow if you promise to put silencers on your guns…

i live in the country too, and the 'coons are out in full force. what does that mean to us? not much, just the odd bird feeder knocked down, and scraping noises throughout the night. EXCEPT for some farmer down the road 'bout a quarter of a mile, who has a noisemaker that sounds like a .22 or other small rifle/shotgun going off EVERY 15 minutes. ALL NIGHT LONG.

Doesn’t Anthony Kiedis (sp?) ‘play for the other team?’

Oh my God, Rysdad, don’t say that. Please don’t. Really. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just that I really REALLY like him.
Does anybody know if Rysdad speaks the truth?
