Fucking maskholes and vaxholes

But but but, he’s a VETERAN, so fuck you!

He’s probably telling a story in a bar at this very moment, about how he totally owned you, and then got spit on.

The GOP controlled legislature in Kansas has been blocking Gov. Kelly at pretty much every turn when it comes to COVID response. Of course you know that when she’s up for reelection, they’re going to blame her for everything going to shit in this state.

And then everybody clapped; apparently that’s compulsory these days.

And to top it off, his claim of being a veteran is most likely bullshit. Lots of pretend veterans about.

And real veterans who never fought anything other than paperwork.

I resemble that remark. Thought I should have gotten a Purple Heart for all the papercuts!

I did have some real mission stuff, but I was always safe and semi-cozy in a SCIF in the English midlands.

Wisconsin:

Yeah, that was what kept this from being a 10 on this judge’s scorecard. But good otherwise.

The Wisconsin supreme court should be a warning about what Republicans are capable of at the state level. They can rig the judiciary, and once you can achieve that, it becomes that much easier to rig other systems.

Yes.

Said another way, once they have rigged the judiciary, it becomes impossible to prevent the rigging of the rest of the system. At least not without a violent revolution.

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.” - John F. Kennedy, 1962

Just another liberal Democrat fomenting revolution.

Maybe, but I’d be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on that. There are a lot of veterans given Iraq and Afghanistan. Usually fake veterans start with that, and then explain how they were special forces snipers on a helicopter assault squad from submarine launch platforms, or whatever. How they rode drones into combat like cowboys.

I would just like to say that an old friend of mine, who was a high-ranking police officer just posted some stuff in praise of an anti-vaxx and anti-mask meme.

I mean, he was always the stupidest person in our circle, but it’s just sad that RW media has made made generations of Americans unable to think

I disagree that media can succeed or fail in making anyone think or not think. There is a failed education system for that piece of blame. What percentage of graduating high school students in the past, oh, thirty years or more have ever had any instruction in learning how to think, how to parse arguments, how to recognize logical errors? It’s a damn small percentage, and the few that have got that in college, never at any level below that.

I don’t know, there have always been stupid, short-sighted people. RW media creates more of them. Like Q is stupider than Birch Society nonsense, but probably has 10 times the reach.

Again, I disagree. The increased reach is just about the internet vs. print media and TV. The fact that Q is so much more virulent and successful is because more people fall for it. That fact is nothing to do with their skill or anything like that, it’s because people are/were already stupid, due to their dumbed-down, make-a-buck educations.

It’s also sad that this idiot has a badge and a gun.

Right wing media may not be able to ‘make’ people think but they are powerful reinforces and validators of preexisting biases and assumptions. Moreover, social media are reinforcers and validators on steroids due to the interactive- and identity-based tendencies that incubate within these platforms. Cable TV or even news websites are limited in terms of tethering the brain to the right wing axis, but social media encourages active participation, which intensifies the commitment to these ideas. So even though people aren’t technically ‘forced’ to be involved in a right wing community, they become addicted to right wing thought clans over time owing to the fact that modern tech can be used to hack into our very old cognitive and psychosocial genetics.

And, as a Wisconsinite, there’s no shortage of people blaming our current Governor for doing “nothing at all” and being a “waste of space” while at the same time complaining that he’s destroying the lives of kids and decimating small businesses with his mandates (so he’s both doing nothing and doing too much) AND somehow, on top of that, they complain that he hasn’t put any laws in place to help deal with the virus while ignoring the fact that [literally] every law he attempts to pass gets dragged into the supreme court by the GOP.
In other words, on paper it appears that he’s doing nothing, but only because they keep preventing him from doing anything. It’s like punishing your kid for not cleaning his room but ignoring that he can’t clean his room if you leave him locked in the garage all day.

Getting back to maskholes for a second. We had a lady in our store yesterday without a mask, when asked by the cashier to put one one she said ‘no thanks’. Cashier came and got the boss, he explained (very politely) that she can either put on a mask or leave and she replied ‘do you mean to tell me that you’re making me put something over my mouth just to be in here’…yeah…that’s exactly what we’re telling you. A bit more back and forth, things got heated, I told her she needed to leave or I’d call the police (first time I’ve ever heard someone non-jokingly say ‘bring it on’). She left mumbling about how she’s going to ‘tell everyone she knows about this’.
A few hours later she left us a review on our facebook page that began with “shitheads. Nazi rule…”. The funny thing is, by calling us Nazis, we can hopefully get FB to remove the review based on it being hate speech or harassment.
Then, someone here replied to her, again, very nicely, but started off with “I assume you were the person here earlier with a mask…” she denied it. I really, really wanted to get a shot of her in here without a mask from our surveillance cameras and post it side by side with her profile picture and say ‘really, this wasn’t you’. But I’m just gonna leave it alone. I learned a long time ago there’s no point in going back and forth with people like that.

I’m not sure I’m convinced that people are all that dumber than there were 40 years ago.

Maybe it’s a factor, but I have to think that the fact that the RW media specifically has produced a propaganda universe where a third of the country exists where the facts are utterly wrong, has to have something to do with it.

Before St. Ronnie, news had to present both sides of an issue. Since then garbage-dicks like Limbaugh (B.I.H.) and the other RW media dipshits have spun an echo-chamber of lies and falsity that a hundred million people think is solidly factual.
