Have you tried the Steak Nuggets? Mm-mmm.
As jerky genre snack foods go, the Jack Links Tender Cuts pork is way past everything else(and about 24 bucks a pound
)
There’s a place near me that sells them alongside a couple brands of jerky (Jack Link’s, which is a little too dry and bland, and McSweeny’s, which is unto meaty salt cravings as ambrosia is to Gods), and I’m repeatedly tempted to try them. Because they’re McSweeny’s (and thus must be good) I’m tempted, but this whole nugget concept disturbs me a bit for some vague and unfathomable reason. Probably because I have a fairly big aversion to fat and gristle, and while the jerky is nice and lean and moist and tender and dehydratingly salty, I have this mental image of fatty hunks of beef with the occasional vein stuck in them, and that just doesn’t sit well with me.
I of course have absolutely no basis for this, but the packaging has no window (unlike the jerky), so I tend to assume the worst.
Yup, they’re McSweeny’s Nuggets (I’ll take "Things that sound vaguely dirty for 100, Alex), and they’re gooooooooood. Not fat and gristly at all - just really, really, tender, tasty meat. Try 'em. You’ll like 'em.
Oh, there’s my other quotation mark - "
