Fukcing Washington Mutual

First of all, they never released the lien on our mortgage when we refinanced a few years back. That took some back flips to refinance last time.

Then, they didn’t pay our fucking fucking insurance on our house - we had to re up signing a paper that we’d had no damage to the house and made no claims in the past few years.

So we refinanced. With someone else. No problem.

Now we’re trying to sell the house and it seems that they issued someone else a mortgage on OUR HOUSE.

WTF people? Why is it so frikken hard to file a few papers correctly?

Jeez, sweetie, between this and your furniture, you’re not having a good day, are you?

Call your realtor or an attorney on WM. Let them handle it.

the realtor has gotten the papers to my husband that he will sign and fax to WM to get them to fix THIS particular mess.

The bitch of it is, we’ve never financed our home with them. They bought some company that had held our mortgage, shortly before they sold the mortgage (we had no idea they’d even held it for any length of time, for us the coupons went from old company straight to new company with no indication WaMu was in it.

And I’m not going to start a new thread, but FUCK dreamhost (my sites have been defaced for 24 hours and they have not done any restore) and Guido the firewall that prevents me from getting to my sites (claims porn, not true) to be able to know that the sites were down.

And fuck me for not keeping PHPBB updated to allow the hack. When I was completely witout home guido-free internet access for a month, (because fucking contractor cut a line and it took a month for Bell to get off of their asses and lay a new line for phone service) I should have taken the idea that maybe I need to check to update everything asap.

And fuck IHPBB or whatever the old board system was for crashing and making me go to PHPBB in the first place.

This thread should just be fuck the month of december.

and fuck november.

I swear to the gods, our realtor is earning his frikken 5.5%. I’m so glad we didn’t do “by owner”.

And while we’re at it, fuck the check engine light on the car. Yeah, I changed the oil. No, I haven’t found an airfilter yet. No, I’m not ready to put in a timing belt or do a spark plug change. I have several days off next week and I’ll pull your bits out then.

There, there, Mynn.

Let’s see who else you can fuck.

Ah yes, Washington Mutual. Been there. Done that. Have the T-shirt. It seems to be their MO to mess up the insurance and fail to release a lien. We finally got ours straightened out when the Title company’s attorney took over the matter. You see, when you re-financed, the Title company that handled your re-fi basically certified you a clean title. Thus, if W.M. has a lien on your house, the Title company would be responsible. Call your Title agent and ask them to get Washington Mutual off your back. Believe me, they’ll hop right to it.

WAMU fouled up (or lost) paperwork when we were trying to settle my brother’s estate. It took more than a year after paying the mortgage on his house to get the title from them, and while that was going on, two potential buyers elected to purchase other homes. An attorney and two real estate agents were helping us.

My son kept records of phone calls and personal visits to WAMU offices in Seattle. Not a good place to work, according to him – WAMU employees weren’t reticent about pointing fingers at each other and complaining about the company’s bad record-keeping.

There’s a website somewhere, with a long list of complaints and lawsuits against WAMU.

Wow - I had bad experiences with them back when they were Great Western!

I had a mortgage (since refinanced) with them, and they signed me up for scam insurance I never agreed to.

If you have it I’d really like to see that complaint website. We refi-ed with WAMU last year and plan to sell in early '05.
Fore-warned is fore-armed. Thanks.

Pats Mynn on the back.

I heard all sorts of bad things about WAMU. Of course this was AFTER we’d taken out a mortgage with them.

So far so good but I read my monthly statements v-e-r-y carefully.

Well, Mynn, there’s only one thing I can help ease your mind about if it isn’t already. The check engine light.

It doesn’t mean your car is going to fall apart, nor does it have anything to do with how well you maintain your car. The only thing the check engine light is tied to is the emissions system. Generally, when that light comes on, you have either hit the mileage it was set to trip on, thereby making you panic and take it to the dealership to check out what if anything is wrong with it, OR, there is a problem with some component of your emissions system, mostly your catalytic converter. In most cases, your car won’t stop running or break, or suffer long term damage, but you might have a problem with a smog check until you fix it.

In MOST cases, I say. If it’s running allright, don’t worry about that now. You sure as shit have bigger fish to fry. [[Mynn]]

Thanks, all.

I swear, if WaMu EVER sends us a note saying “we now own your mortgage” I will refinance or start walking the streets or robbing banks to pay off the note so fast their little pinheads will spin.

Faruzia, yeah. Actually the Check Engine light was flashing like it always does when I’m Beyond the time to change the oil - it just so happeend that it’s also time for a tranny and cooling system refresh, mileage wise. AND I had a loose gas cap so the actual light with the engine was on a while. A tight cap and two tanks of premium and I’m back to the tranny and coolant bitching.

My mechanic (close to work) is actually pretty awesome - he’ll scan it and reset it if it is nothing. However, I am considering getting a handheld computer some day because I just don’t own cars I can fix myself much anymore.

Dreamhost got back to me late last night, as I was begining my “one trouble ticket per hour” campaign, and they told me to let them know when my files were updated and they’d restore them. At the time I thought that NeverEverNoSanity WebWorm generation 11. had wiped everything, so I was cursing them a blue streak in my head. But with the help of the ever-patient Ramit, we got PHPBB updated and most of the ‘important’ stuff working again, now just waiting for DreamHost to get off of their duff and restore the overwritten files. Ugh. And tonight I’m signing up with Source Forge to stay updated with PHPBB’s new ‘update notice’ service.

Yes, link us up with the WaMu complaint sites!

Here’s another one: You can change your address online with them, but if you try to order new checks right after you are locked out from doing that for 30 days. No phone requests for new checks, no internet requests for new checks. You have to drag your busy carcass down to their office. So order the checks with the new address, THEN change your address officially. Much smoother that way.

I googled Washington Mutual Complaints and found several, but the one I looked at when we were having problems isn’t there. I had it saved, but my computer system’s been wiped clean a couple of times (which could be a subject for a Compaq’s Desktops Suck thread, but I’ve given up on them ever fixing the freakin’ thing).

There was a Post-Intelligencer article about a few lawsuits, and a new review procedure WAMU has set up to field complaints. We had contacted the P.I. business editor as well, and they were interested and helpful.

And make sure your gas cap is shut tight! That has happened to me more than once.

I got an email claiming to be from them (WaMu) last week claiming that while my PIN had been entered incorrectly, my last credit card transaction had been completed successfully, anyway.

They wanted me to submit my CC# and PIN to verify them “for security reasons.”

Problem: I don’t have a credit card, and don’t bank with WaMu.

Nice try, folks. Whoever you were.

Licensed Title Agent here (insert standard disclaimer here…do not remove tag…not legal advice…your mileage may vary, etc. etc). I am inclined to agree Calliope , with one caveat:

Depends on when you refi-ed. Mynn . If it was after the other person took out the mortgage that was wrongly attached to your house, yep, your title company is who to call.

If the other person’s mortgage was done after your refi, then it is their title company that goofed. They are supposed to check that the legal matches the address. Obviously, if someone else’s mortgage is attached to your house, the title company that recorded their used the wrong legal. And that’s who’s butt you need to chew. If that is the case, a decent real estate attorney on your side couldn’t hurt…someone to follow up and make damn sure a release is recorded removing the lien from your property.

And incidently, my November and December sucked major rat’s ass too :frowning:
So have my empathy and sympathy, for what it’s worth. Hope things improve for you!

Thanks, all.

Cherry … I’m trying to get Ramit to get on with my chosen R.E. attorney, he’s going through his aunt whatever.

Anyway, I went to bump this to bitch further about it when I realized, we went through this when we refinanced.

I think this is the same issue … the same mortgage. And we got a letter or something THEN to refi that showed the property was clear … curiouser and curiouser …

email sent to company who previously handled title work for our old refinance:

*We refinanced our home in 2001 with no problems - however when we
tried to refinance in 2003, we ran into a problem - a lien with
Washington Mutual was not settled.

We’d never had a loan with WaMu, so this was odd - but eventually your
company did whatever was necessary to get things cleared enough to let
us refinance.

Now, in 2005, we are trying to sell our home (closing is in two weeks

  • assuming this doesn’t cause the loss of sale of the home). WaMu
still seems to have a lien on the property (I’m still trying to get
    the details you requested).

The lien seems to stem from mortgages and refinancings issued to

It even looks like it was your [deleted] office that handled it.

Please let me know what further information you need. I can be reached
during the day at 444-444-4444, or via cell at 444-999-9999. Any
assistance you can render us in showing that WaMu should have already
cleared this up, or can get this cleared quickly to prevent the loss
of sale of our home would be appreciated.*

My old title company who should have got this cleared, is the one I sent this to - they are working with buyer’s title company to track this down (I hope).

Grr.

Have access to a kick ass title company lawyer $500 an hour but very high mucky muck around here - hopefully we won’t need him much.

Big City Lawyer called Buyers Title company and said “Scribner Error. You will take an affadavit.”

And Buyers Title company just got off of the phone with WaMu and said WaMu is correcting it with the county and issuing something to Buyers Title company w/in 48 hours so this can all go through.

PHEW.

Now to see if my furniture is actually going to be delivered saturday …

/em doesn’t hold breath

You still don’t have your furniture?

Please update that thread!
