(Old) Fun Facts in the MMP!

Just scheduled our Covid boosters for 8AM tomorrow. Gotta make sure I set an alarm - this morning, we were still abed at 7:20. OOOOOPS!

Supper was yum - I do love cooking meats sous vide. All I did was marinate the steaks in worcestershire for a few hours. And we finished off some leftover veggies - another win! I will bike today since I was mostly a slug. Then chillage. Rah!

What a beautiful girl and she certainly knew she was living the good life, in the lap of luxury, as befits such feline beauty.

I will hold all of you in my heart.

Oh no! I’m so sorry, about your sweet Chloe.

Thank you all. It was quite the gut punch; I knew she wasn’t doing well, but didn’t expect this to happen today.

She was alert and seemed very much like herself at the end, which made it so much harder. There’s always the guilt feelings of “could we have done more for her?” But we knew she wasn’t going to get better.

The vet was supportive of our decision and said we did a “selfless” thing, which was helpful.

I think just about all of us who’ve had to make this decision have asked ourselves this question. Even when your brain knows, your heart can’t give up. Hugs to you and yours.

Wheels I am so sorry about Chloe. They leave such a hole in our hearts.:two_hearts:

I scratched the roof of my mouth. (Tortilla chip?) Now I can’t stop poking with my tongue.

I have many, many other grievances with life, but that’s all that’s fit to print here.

Better one day too soon, than one day too late.

You spared her the horrid downhill slide, and that is, indeed, an enormous kindness.

wheelz So sorry to hear about Chloe. Just remember the good.

Is snowing now, I’ve got about an inch on the grass, nothing sticking on the street. I’m ready for spring to really get here.

The new job is going well. One thing I’d forgotten about working with other people is how much time they waste just talking. Maybe about the project, maybe about nothing. I’ve been 20 years working mainly by myself, so it’s quite the change.

Ouch wheelz. That’s a bad break. Shoe has wisdom there; pets and suffering aren’t a good fit. You being brave so she didn’t have to be is a noble thing.

I’m so sorry to hear this.

And, JtC, I’m sorry to hear that you were break-dancing when you bowed to the good old LH. I just stumbled across a glassblowing place in Akron. Interestingly enough, the prices were about the same, but each project took a minimum of an hour and up to two.

Oh, no! I’m so sorry.

:crying_cat:

Oh man, that is such a hard day to go through. The trust of your pet is total and you feel like you’re somehow violating that trust. But you’re not. You’re doing what is right for them and for you. We had to put our Q’itih down some months ago and it was agonizing. But we now have our beautiful Sadie, adopted from a shelter, and she helps to fill the hole of sadness.

I missed the news of Q’itih’s passing. I’m so sorry. This is what we sign up for when we get pets, and we know it going in. Somehow that doesn’t make it any easier.

My last post-retirement job was as a mechanical drafter. I was considerably older than my coworkers - my office mate was young enough to be my grandson (I’m 40 years older than he is.) As a result, I didn’t have a whole lot in common with them, so chit-chat really wasn’t an issue. And, frankly, I was there to work, so I did. I’ve heard that after I left, drawing production went way down. Kids these days…

Funny you should mention this. My daughter’s bestest friend since they were 4 is moving to Akron - going for a PhD at Kent State. And this December, the four best friends from high school are getting together in Akron at Casey’s new place to celebrate turning 40, as they all will this year. Just had to share that tidbit.

I’ve done my biking, so it’s time for some BritBox. And chillage.

Had you not, it would be high on the list of ways to go!

But have you perspired more during exercise?

If you spot these when you are shopping, they’re well worth eating.

I’ve been an alto since age 12. In some groups that were short of men, I’ve been one of the tenors.

Ouch! May you heal well.

:people_hugging: I’m so sorry wheelie. You were lucky to have each other.

Irked up front today and got glitter bombed. Some smartass with a 'splody phone decided to get creative (funny?) and put about a Tbsp. of purple glitter in with it. Now that irk smock sparkles and will need to be washed by itself. Safety Dean had to get involved to make sure that it wasn’t anything toxic.

When I got home, the neighbor three doors down was out with Link (lab, mastiff cross. 120# of gentle giant). By the time I got out with Nelson, the guy next door was just getting home from the lake with his two standard poodles, so we got to see everyone on this side of the building. While we were out, there was a huge, sleek black cat along the fence line. It didn’t seem to be afraid of all of the dogs around and was easily bigger than Nelson. I’m not sure who it belongs to, but I hope that it has a home.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

What would be more inbetween us? I don’t think I’ve ever been in Akron.

Currently I’m looking at maps and thinking about driving to Boise to see Mom. I’m OK driving, it keeps my leg extended and me on my ass. Turning the key is kinda tricky (painful unless I use my left hand) but I won’t want to go until after the insulation guys are done.

Huge sleek cats usually have good places to sleep and good food to eat. Homes are usually involved.

I am grumpy on your behalf about the glitter bomb. That is just rude and uncalled for.

And a good early evening to you all. Swimming has been swum and extra-large cheeburger has been grilled and consumed, so all that remains is a nice quiet night of internetting and slothing. Plumbers will be here tomorrow and my first soccer practice is planned for 5:30pm so Thorsday should be a bit active. Weather remains nice, 70F here at 6pm but rain is due Saturday and Sunday nights, so have that to look forward too.

Busy afternoon, so need to get down to readin’…

boo fae, probably a good idea to skip activities tonight and be ready to go for the weekend.

FCM, I keep a watch on my electric use and have several room thermometers around the house, but guess that wouldn’t help on a detached building. Glad the guy told you about it. And enjoy the Zoo-haven’t been to the Baltimore one yet, hope they enjoy it.

Wheelie, we won’t see 90F here for awhile yet, but they are predicting ‘slightly higher than normal’ temperatures this year for my area, so we’ll see when it shows up.

And you did the humane thing for Chloe, may she rest in peace. :people_hugging:

rocky, good luck with playing furniture Tetris.

Oopsie, good news on the Batwing project. And much and many thanks for the Supreme Court story…it was fascinating!! (albeit a bit too long a wait).

Pavo, glad you’re feeling better and doing things.

flyboy, a nice choice of flags.

nellie, got a good laugh at the pooping deer.

JtC, don’t matter if you like the Doc or not, sounds like he knows his business so do as he says! And nice of you to (possibly) help out at he stand. But that’s a long drive, plan well for it (know you will).

Born and raised and live almost all of my first 27 years near Akron, it’s probably changed a lot by now but still have good memories of it. Have to get back there sometime.

red, thanks for the tip, Kroger has them but I’ve never picked them up, when I do my next Moanday shopping I’ll give them a try. And as for the glitter bombster…some people think they are a wit; turns out they are half right…

Whew…think I’m all caught up. Have a good evening all, think I will move some furniture around for the plumbers, just cause I’m a nice guy. Take care all.

At least it was purple?
Yeah, I know, not funny.

JtC, Akron is in the opposite direction. It would be a long drive for you.

FCM, that’s kind of surprising. It’s not being portrayed as the safest place to live these days. But I guess that depends on where and who you believe.

ChurchGuy had his ablation. Hes in pain, something about the tube they put down his throat and scarring bothering his esophagus.
We message every day on fb.
He likes my pics of Moley.
I had an interview. It would be a few nights of 10 pm to 6 am. Eek.
