Let’s see if this works…

Here you go …

I have a blue tooth speaker for my phone that looks like a mini version of a radio from the 50s-early 60s. AND it’s aqua! It even has a leather like strap handle on it. I love it.

Thank you, very much appreciated! I have no idea how anything works and spent very little time figuring it out. I should actually pay attention for next time …

I’m going through photos and bumping a few posts, sorry. Here’s the chair socks as I saw them a couple weeks ago (May 18). As we can see, they didn’t have some of the longer, thinner animal patterns or the cute sloth socks I’ve seen on other visits.

I can think of three purchases, one quite a few years ago and two quite recent, that are – as the saying goes – absolutely worth their weight in gold!

The purchase years ago was an Amazon Fire tablet. This has been a constant bedtime companion – at night, when I wake up in the middle of the night, in the morning, and just about any time I’m lazing around. I use it for watching movies and TV shows, surfing the net, and sometimes playing games like chess. The tablet became all the more useful when I sideloaded the Google Play store app, a trick that is completely legit and Amazon doesn’t even try to prevent it, they just don’t tell you how to do it. It opens up the Google ecosystem and doesn’t limit you to the Amazon one.

It has just 16 GB of on-board memory but takes microSD cards. I got a good fast one that had 32 GB that was fairly expensive at the time, but recently replaced it with a 64 GB card that cost just $10 on Amazon (from Patriot Memory in Fremont, CA) and has been performing flawlessly, doubling my capacity virtually for free. MicroSD tech has come a long, long way.

The most recent fantastic purchase was a Philips Norelco MG5590 beard trimmer. I have gotten in the habit of letting my facial hair grow and then eventually attacking it with a combination of scissors and my Braun beard trimmer which had an extremely hard time cutting anything. It was always an ordeal. Braun makes some excellent shavers but this particular beard trimmer was apparently designed by morons. The Norelco is incredible. If you’ve ever let your lawn get overgrown and then run a powerful sharp-bladed mower through it and watched it create a beautifully manicured lawn in its path, that’s what this thing is like!

I gave a 512 GB card in my Fire. It has I think around 300 GB used right now.

I’m pretty sure that my Fire model maxes out at 64 GB as the largest SD card it will support.

Hm, I would never think of a beard trimmer as a “fun” product, but I guess fun is subjective.

A few days ago I got a Loop Lasso. It’s a handle containing a motor that shoots a loop of string continuously out about 10 feet in front of you. The dynamics of the string are cool and somewhat nonintuitive. I don’t expect to get hours of fun from it, but it’s amusing.

I have a 9th generation/2019 model. Unless yours is older than that, you can use bigger.

I wouldn’t think of chair socks as “fun”, either! But for me, the word can be defined as describing a device that completely eliminates what was previously an extremely arduous ordeal! Sort of the way a 19th century housewife might characterize a modern washing machine as “fun”!

I just checked the settings – it’s 7th generation. Pretty sure I confirmed somewhere that 64 GB was the max. I guess I’ve had it even longer than I thought!

Hey, chair socks are the funniest thing I’ve had in years.
Not one person has been in my house and failed to notice them.
A plus, I like my stupidly expensive floors not to be scratched. There are many things you can’t control. But I can keep the barstools from scratching the surface on those floors.

“Funniest” or “funnest”? Either way works for me!

Actually both.
It’s the funnest thing to watch the funniest looks, confusion washes over their faces. Then, ah, I see…occurs to them.

Son-of-a-wrek always says, when they get it, “you should see the shoe closet the stools have!”

Just wanted to add that per this developer website, the 7th generation Amazon Fire can handle up to 256 GB MicroSD cards. Don’t know where I got the previous info. No matter, I was pretty used to the 32 GB card so going to 64 GB for ten bucks was wonderful and I don’t really need much more space. But next time I place an order with Amazon, I’ll order one of the higher capacity cards and see if they work.

I use mine as a comic and manga reader. I currently have 1.36 million pages stored on the Kindle. (I don’t track that manually, the comic app has a stats option.)

Try it in conjunction with marijuana !

Just in case this inspires anyone to get one, my apologies for getting the model number completely wrong – it was MG7790. The “5” got stuck in my brain because the actual model listed on Amazon was MG7750. What was delivered was MG7790. I have no idea what the difference is, and I’m not complaining!

I haven’t encountered it (nor would I wear one), but I’d like to see a trump hat with “34” instead of “45”.

That would be Fun!

I have discovered a love for fidget spinners, especially the ones that also have pop-it. My son gets fidgets in birthday loot bags, they invariably end up on my desk to fiddle with.

At the other end of the cost spectrum, I love my inflatable kayak and my life is so much better with it! I can transport it easily without help (I can’t secure a regular one on my car alone) and the joy I have using it is immense. So good for my mental and physical health. I got it on sale three summers ago and worth every penny and then some.
