Fundie Jedi and other splinter groups

A friend and I were just talking about the whole Jedi Census thing and wondered what exactly the religion would be like. In short order we realized like other religions it would form splinter groups.

You would have those who are orthodox Jedi who follow the rules Yoda set out in Empire and those few rules Obi Wan gave out to Luke in Star Wars.

Then you might have the reformed Jedi who may only follow the later movies which represented the actual origins of the Jedi. They may worship the midi clorians.

Next are the ones who only follow the teachings of Yoda as the ultimate teacher, others may follow Only Obi Wan. The there are those who believe Han shot first and those who claim he did not as the revised films are the only true Star Wars films.

The worst however are those fundamentalist Jedi. They believe every word ever said about Jedi and other Jedis are the absolute truth about the religion. They will argue about those who don’t accept midi chlorians, they will try to argue taht everything ever said jibes together.

They are those who pretend to ignore inconsistencies like Ben’s explanation of the Death of Anakin Skywalker. “He was betrayed and Murdered by a pupil of mine named Darth Vader”
“He was my closest and dearest friend” Which don’t jibe with the fact he is alive. The Fundamentalists will rave on how Ben explained that in a way it was truth without seeing the illogic of it. They would ignore the animosity the two showed each other in Episode II. They will see other factions of Jedi as being corrupted by the Dark side and that if they don’t accept every word uttered about jedism as literal truth.

Any other splinter groups or inconsistancies the Fundi Jedi have to explain away?

Do mid chlorians really matter if Ben was able to offer Han training without checking of them. If Han did have midi chlorians how did Ben detect those but Ben’s master didn’t clue into Anikan right off the bat?

When did Ben offer Han, of all people, training?!?

On the millenium falcon I think. It’s been a while, so I’m more than willing to be corrected.

Then there are the other splinter groups, like the Vegetarian Wookies, Wookies Who Love Ewoks, the IAHDLA’S (Intergalactic Association of Humanoid-Droid Love Afficianados), and the Huts for Free Trade.

I don’t know if it exists, but in the Star Trek Universe I think it would be interesting to set a plot amongst a group of young humans on Earth who have completely adapted Vulcan culture (basically reverse hippies).

I work with some of these people.

prav you post with some of those people.

Still trying to find that scene Chronos

Nuts to the Jedi! They’re out to scam the citizens of the Galactic Republic. “The Force” doesn’t exist! It’s all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.

Yeah I think I’m wrong. The reference was from one of David Brin’s star wars reviews where he quotes from someone about the elitist development of the force. If I can find time to watch SW I’ll keep my eyes peeled.
