Same one I was going to say.
Indiana Jones v. ninja sword guy. I don’t even remember which movie it was, but you all know the scene I’m talking about.
(And yes, I know the backstory.)
Nah, the best part was the exchange between the two priests
My nomination is from Morons From Outer Space. The aliens are trying to escape from a military base. One of them sneaks up behind a sentry and conks him on the head. The sentry falls . . . to his knees and screams, “Ow! What did you do that for!”
If I were going to pick one fight scene from FG it would be Lois vs. Stewie. But of course, it never happened.
As for unintentionally funny fight scenes, there are a bunch of torn-shirt Kirk moments from the original Star Trek. The one that immediately comes to mind is when Kirk knocks out Khan (who had pretty much cleaned the floor with him up to this point) with a flimsy plastic tube.
I also remember a scene from The Avengers where Steed manages to program a robot to fight itself to death. The fact that it was a direct ripoff from the cheesy '50s children’s program Captain Video only added to the humor.
What I came to post. Possibly NSFW, but I didn’t see it flagged here. I won’t spoil the last two lines for you, but it’s worth sticking it out to the end just to hear them.
The scene from Sin City where Marv finally catches Kevin always gets a hearty chuckle. “I got you, you little bastard. Let’s see you hop around now.”
Actually, that whole sequence of Marv going around “asking pretty hard” about Goldie is pretty funny.
Well there was the gang fight between the competing network news teams in Anchorman.
John Wayne movies were always good for a funny fight scene. What about The Undefeated?
I’m gonna get my ass kicked for this, but the most unintentionally funny fight scene to me is in Fight Club, once you know what’s really going on.
For intentional funny - that hasn’t been mentioned - I nominate Jason Mewes versus Mark Hamill in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Hail CockKnocker!!
“Jaws” [Richard Kiel], perhaps the most cartoonish of the Bond villains (and that’s saying something!) was often played for laughs in the two movies he appeared in (**The Spy Who Loved Me ** and Moonraker). Other characters were played for some laughs too, but the Jaws bits were probably the funniest.
[QUOTE=Miss Purl
Also, the duel at the end of the Firefly episode “Shindig” is funny right at the end, where Mal has Atherton Wing on the ground.
.[/QUOTE]
There’s another episode where Mal is fighting some guy and getting his ass kicked:
Zoë “Let him be. The captain needs to do this himself.”
Mal “NO HE DOESN’T!!”
Zoe “oh…”
Indiana Jones vs the scimitar wielding arab (he’s not a ninja so it’s not a ninja sword) in Raiders
Indiana Jones vs the big German around the flying wing in Raiders
Frank the Tank vs Dean Prichard in Old School
Chaz Michael Michaels vs Jimmy McElroy in Blades of Glory
All the fights in Kung Fu Hustle!
Buffy. Spike. Rocket launcher.
I’ve never actually seen Anchorman, but from what I understand there’s a pretty funny fight scene in that movie. (In fact, one of my more cynical friends says it’s the ONLY funny thing about the movie.)
From the Punisher movie, the fight where the Punisher takes on the big German (?) dude is pretty hilarious.
Also, in Big Trouble in Little China when Kurt Russell stabs a guy with secret knives in his boots…then proceeds to be pinned down in an awkward position because the guy’s on top of him and he can’t get the knives out of his body.
I’ve always thought that one of the most unintentionally funny fight scenes is the “training” fight between Morpheus and Neo in The Matrix. The preposterous posturing and the deadly-serious demeanor of the characters are hysterical.
Wow, I can’t believe no one has mentioned this yet, but the opening scene of Way of the Gun can’t be beat.
My description won’t do it justice, but basically, the two low life main characters are loitering in front of a bar with a big line to get in. They are sitting on some dude’s Mercedes, and his crazy girlfriend (Sara Silverman) starts yelling a bunch of stupid shit at them; ranting about how her boyfriend is going to kick their asses and then rape them and on and on.
Ryan Philippe says, “Shut that cunt’s mouth or I’ll come over there and fuck-start her face.” A crowd gathers around for the big fight after Sara insists he do something to defend her honor. (The boyfriend looks ridiculously un-tough by the way) Ryan Philippe is offered the first “dance” of the “man-dance” by the boyfriend, which is funny in its own right. Knowing they are going to get their asses kicked by the crowd either way, Philippe cocks his hand back and punches the bitchy girlfriend right in the face instead of the guy, while his partner plants a big kiss on another girl. They do get their asses kicked, and I about fall out of my chair every damn time.
In “Used Cars” when Roy L Fuchs is fighting Jeff in the trailer.
The scene in Airplane, where as one of the characters strides across the airport to dramatic music, he beats down all the airport religious nut types that come up to him.
Nut : “Jews for Jesus ?”
< WHACK ! >
Nut : “How about Buddhism ?”
< FLING ! >
Nut : “Whoaaa !”
T_SQUARE here is the scene you mentioned.
