funniest scenes on The Office, US version

My favorite scene because it’s not that zany but it gets everyone involved:
Is whomever a real word?

Kevin is staring at the vending machine with coins in hand when Holly walks up. He says “I can’t decide”. Holly says “let’s see how much money you have…OK, 2 quarters, two dimes, this is a button, that won’t work, a nickle… you have 75 cents! You can buy this, or this, or this.” Kevin, after she leaves: “Oooh, she likes me!”.

An episode or two before the grand finale Dwight fires Kevin for incompetence and his replacement, a young woman, comes into the break room and asks about an irregularity that keeps comming up in his accounting, and I think Oscar just disregards it and tells her it’s a madeup number Kevin used to go home on time.

The finale comes along and Dwight’s bachelor party shows up at the bar Kevin OWNS to bury the hatchet.

I think he was playing stupid all along, and the only time he revealed it was during the Gay Trivia contest. After winning he wen’t back to playing dumb. And stealing.

My 6, 7yo daughter and I developed this ‘game’ where we would watch the “DVD” box bounce around the TV set where the goal was to call out that it would hit the corner before it hit the corner.

My wife thought we were insane. ‘Who would think to do this?’

Then, in a The Office cold open, Michael is giving a speech which, at the end, earns him a loud cheer, causing him to smile appreciatively. Then, in a talking head, Jim explains that the Office gang was playing the same game as my daughter and I!

Ha! Vindicated!

In the episode “Casino Night” the office is discussing which charity to donate the proceeds to. Previous casino nights’ proceeds were given to the Boy Scouts, to which Oscar objects, preferring that it go to people who are more in need. He suggests an AIDS-related charity. Someone else suggests an Afghanistan-related charity, and this sets off comic riffing, culminating in some tacky combination (“Afghanis with AIDS”?).

To which Michael sharply objects, "Hey–AIDS isn’t funny… God knows I tried".

The humor is imagining how disgusting and juvenile Michael’s humor must have been in that era when he was still “trying”.

Diversity Day: “Try my googy ,googy !”

This is my all-time favorite part of a scene in that series. The fact that the cat comes crashing back down through the ceiling tile just kills me. I’m laughing now just thinking about it.

“Mr. Buttlicker” role play phone call…hysterical.

I think my favorite single joke is Creed saying “Somebody making soup?”

Wait…

There are people who don’t play that game?!? What kind of hell am I living in? (In our house it was the DirecTV logo, but still…)

From the episode where Michael outs Oscar:

Michael is talking with Dwight, wondering if anyone else in the office might be gay. Dwight suggests that Michael not make gay jokes in front of anyone. Michael’s response is along the lines of “Yeah, treat all my friends like they’re gay. They’re really going to appreciate that.”

Reminds me of Pam’s joke on another episode:
“We haven’t had interns in a while. Ever since Michael’s Monica Lewinsky incident. He didn’t do anything sexual, he just made far, far too many Monica Lewinsky jokes.”

“What line of work you in, Bob?”

When Kevin asked Jim who was hotter, Pam or Karen, and Jim replied, “I don’t know Kevin, why don’t you (figure that out for me)?”

Kevin took him seriously, and could be seen throughout the day staring at either woman, taking notes.

At one point he asked Pam whether she did yoga, and when she said no, replied, “Oh. Too bad. That’s gonna cost you”.

Which one’s Pam?

I have to admit I’m not a big Office fan (my wife and sons are), but that is hands-down the funniest scene of the show I’ve ever seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QQBB3cwNM0

Bald Meredith in the “Lice” episode.

“Shave. Her. Head!”

In the episode where Kelly fakes bad customer reviews for Jim and Dwight, the two of them have an impromptu meeting in Dwight’s car. Jim is skeptical of the whole thing.

Dwight: Who stands to benefit from our downfall?

Jim: The mob? Maybe NASA?

Dwight: Could be the mob… But then Dunder Mifflin would have to be a front for money laundering, and there’s little evidence of that.

Jim: Is there some evidence?

I love the episode where Andy finally finds out about Angela and Dwight, and they decide to have a duel. Jim tries to intercede on the grounds that it absolutely cannot take place on company property, at which point Dwight and Andy jointly argue for a way to fight to the death on their own time. They even high-five each other.

The later episodes with James Spader weren’t great. But I did love the scene where they’re all trying to figure out what two lists of people on Spader’s desk means. They all line up to compare, at which point Dwight yells, “Left side of the line… ATTACK!!!”

Just a defense of James Spader: I had a boss JUST like “Robert California”. Acted all New Age and enlightened so that he could sell his detachment as some kind of Zen Management. Nope, he just didn’t care… he knew he’d be out of there in less than a year, so he might as well amuse himself by playing mind games.

So I love Spader’s stint at “D-Mif”, [URL=“https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsfKSzlh_Bg”]here’s a best of… even his initial interview was full of this crap.
