The Office 1/26

I haven’t seen a thread on this yet, if there is one, just ignore this one and point me in that direction.
I thought this episode was fan-tastic! Michael is such a typically horrible manager. How he just arbitrarily flexes his “management” muscle (telling Dwight to stop calling the radio station, just minutes after he lead Dwight on an obnoxious trashing of the accounting dept.)

And the poop on the carpet? Frigging’ brilliant!

“Is that dead bird?”
"That is definitely not a bird.
“Somebody vomited on my carpet.”
“I don’t think that’s vomit.”

I think I was giggling the whole way through this one.

I thought the best part was the development of Kelly, who we haven’t seen much. Just how chatty and high-schooly she was.

And Jim asking out the chick from Corporate who was on the booze cruise: Didn’t see that one coming, considering the only time he’s met her was when he was pining for one girl and breaking up with another.

Kelly was hilarious! Even moreso was Ryan’s reaction to Jim’s inquiries about what he thought of her. Poor Jim. Not only does he have to sadly listen to Pam’s voicemails and pine, but now he’s junior-high go-between for Ryan and Kelly!

I loved Angela heading off Dwight’s desk-trashing attack. That look she gave him must get a lot of use if they’ve managed to date this long. Dwight needs a short leash.

Did anyone notice that it was sort of like the episode of the British series in which someone pasted David Brent’s face on a picture of a female model and it turns out it was done by David’s best friend Chris Finch?

But I did like the episode.

Isn’t that the same chick that Michael kissed? That should be fun.

Loved the picture of mullet Michael with the old boss.

This epsiode was really good. Which just goes without saying as this show is the funniest on tv.

Did anyone else think that Michael actually shat on the carpet at first?
Just to get a new carpet in his office or to facilitate some bizarre scheme.

Was there a weird continuity thing in the episode? When Michael announced the sales contest he said Jim wasn’t included because he wasn’t there… I’m not sure if that was meant to take place while Jim was out to lunch or if that because Jim was now in the back with Kelly he didn’t count (and because he probably could compete Michael in sales).

Creed is by far my favorite of the supporting office workers. “Someone making soup?”

I’m waiting for a Phyllis centered bit. She’s so far the only one that hasnt gotten a signifigant extra bit to her character.
… I guess Tobey could use a little more fleshing out.

Michael kissed Jan Levinson-Gould, his immediate boss. Brenda from the Booze Cruise was sent from Dunder-Mifflin corporate to observe his leadership style.

I think it’s because Michael is so completely self-absorbed that once Jim was out of sight he was 100% out of mind.

IMO, but that’s probably right…

That’s the way I took it. He took over Jim’s desk, and Jim was out of sight, so as far as he (Michael) was concerned, Jim was gone.

I also loved the extra bit with Kelly, the Chatty One. And whoever sat there before had to move because he was ‘allergic to something.’ Jim’s look was priceless when she said that.

Are we sure that Dwight and the blond woman are dating? I thought there was just a lot of sexual tension between them. I thought I had seen every episode so far, but perhaps I’ve missed one. I think those two dating would be exploited more, a la Jim and Pam.

Also, any fans of 40-Year Old Virgin here? I jsut noticed that Kelly from the Office played Amy, the girl Paul Rudd was obsessed with. She’s pretty good.

It was great when Michael closed the door on the big guy in the room with the stinky thing.

We never learned officially what “it” was did we?

They were making out in the back yard during Jim’s house party, the one that Michael crashed.

No. “It” was a McGuffin.

what that hell…it was a turd. How can there be any question?

Packer reminds me of Jim Kendall from Ring Lardner’s short story Haircut. His next joke is probably going to be booby-trapping someone’s front door with a hand grenade.

And when was that stated or implied?

Just watched it. Loved it. The best show on television. PACKER!

What was incredible was Michael’s sincere emotion. He was devestated that someone hated him enough to shit on his floor.

They really are striking the proper balance between making Michael a goon and painting him as a lonely guy, in over his head.

And I didn’t think Jim was sad at listening to Pam’s messages. I think he was completely relieved that she missed him.

Anyone else notice that during “time out”, Above-It-All Stanley took a nap?

I really like how the camera operator(s) has become an unseen character. I noticed that when Packer called Michael on the speaker phone and called him a gay nerd that the camera seemed to kind of seek out Oscar for his reaction. Of course, only the documentary crew knows Oscar’s “secret”, since Dwight is too stupid to catch on.

Yeah, and I liked how when MIchael met with Ed Truck (?) out by the dumpster, Ed gave the camera guy a look like “What the hell is this?”

I’m actually surprised he didn’t come out and say “What the hell is this?”

Stated? Never. Implied? Throughout the whole episode.

I didn’t notice that at all. Good point!
