The Office 5/07/09

I really enjoyed this episode.

Sometimes you don’t need a lot of character development, or a ton of one liners. Sometimes, you just gotta dance. I can’t wait for Andy’s dance to be up on Hulu/Youtube.

And I’m calling it right now that new receptionist has the hots for Kelly.

I’ll admit, I was flipping back between baseball and The Office, and my attention was hardly focused on the show even while it was on, but …

Even from what I saw, there didn’t seem to be much of a point to this episode. At all. In fact, all the dancing just sort of made me uncomfortable. I’ll watch it again tomorrow online to see if I missed something, but … like I said, it just seemed pretty pointless. I miss the Michael Scott Paper Company.

I really hope Stanley was napping at his desk and not dead from a heart attack.

I liked it a lot. It was so great seeing some ‘odd couple’ bonding between Dwight and Phyllis, and Andy and Kelly. Andy’s dance was hilarious! And I really cracked up when the camera panned across the dance floor to the wall where Kevin was making out with his girlfriend. Cafe Disco!

My crush on New Kelly continues to grow. She is such a dork, but so cute.

I lost it when Andy said, “I’m not sure, but I think I’m in the middle of a dance-off.” And then I laughed even harder when it turned out that he was right!!

A+

I’m not certain why, but I laughed the hardest at Angela storming out of Cafe Disco and walking straight under the limbo bar.

Dwight cutting open the back of Phyllis’ shirt made me flash on Silence of the Lambs, which I’m sure was deliberate.

Dwight was a huge douche to Pam at the beginning of this ep. I was hoping she’d throw a stapler at his laughing face.

Any chance Bob Vance is having an affair with his Phyllis-like secretary? It was weird how she said, “After he gets off, I’ll have him call you.”

I think Michael’s dance party was a strange sort of genius. DM morale was at a low, and everyone has been edgy and bummed out. He was able to get them to enjoy themselves, together. It was actually pretty great team building.

Kelly was totally piercing Andy’s gay ear.

“You need medical attention ASAP—Stacked”
ETA—The new receptionist Kelly is now (in my opinion) the most attractive member of the cast, though Jan is still a stunner…

After all of the shit that Jim and Pam have done to him, she deserved it.

I loved that episode. It was my favorite one in a while…a welcome brief relief from watching fire news.

I loved it. I’m getting a little tired of all the Pam and Jim fake-out storylines. Otherwise, great episode.

They do shit to him because he is, let’s face it, a crazy asshole. Imagine having to work next to him. Pranking seems like the most innocuous way to cope with it, whereas what he did this ep? Just flat-out mean-spirited. Dwight is not a likable character. Entertaining to watch, but not likable.

  • Jim was lame. Dwights’ prank was not as bad as some of the stuff they had pulled on him.

  • Why didn’t we see Oscar nod along to “Everybody Dance Now”.

  • Overall we’re unfortunately back the quality from before MSPC

I guess it was Toby’s day off.

A lot of good Creed in this ep. He was using that little disco ball as a rear-view mirror! I get the impression he calls Michael “boss” because he can never remember his real name.

I agree with the OP. Very fun episode, even without plot development.

What was it Michael said? Something about how the previous manager had “really done a number” on his staff, and now all they do is work. Heh.

As for the ear, what I learned in the early '80’s was “Left is right, right is wrong.”

“THERE IS NO COOKIE KEVIN!”
“I’m just against the entire spirit of music.”
[comes out of the conference room with a t-shirt on] “I need two able-bodied men”

And the winner of Most Delusional Wishful Thinking goes to…

Did anybody else notice that when Phyllis came back to the disco her top was completely fine, even though Dwight had cut it with scissors minutes earlier? Or did I miss something there?

When he was dancing with her, her husband commented on the staples holding it together.

(paraphrasing)

Michael: “Ok, that’s it. Kelly, go shut down Cafe Disco.”
Kelly: “So… you want me to go down there and unplug the coffemaker?”
