I just zoomed in with my iPhone like normal. Is it impossible to zoom in on that site if you’re on a PC?
It seems clunky, but Ctrl+MouseWheelUp does it. For Mac, I’ll guess ⌘+MouseWheelUp? Surprised they don’t have a zoom button. It’s even easier if you right click and open just the image.
As long as we’re talking Far Side,I’m a cowboy!
And while I can’t find a link to the actual cartoon, I loved the old National Lampoon cartoon of the waiter announcing, “It’s a fried telephone book. We gave it a fancy French name and you ordered it!”
Thrid down on page, the Joker strikes again.

I love this cartoon, makes me smile every time I think about it.
Another favorite from National Lampoon on the wall by my desk:
A ransacked office. The Moon is outside the window, indicating the crime took place hours ago. A man, bound and gagged behind the desk. The nameplate on the desk?
Godot.
What, no love for Callahan? http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Callahan+cartoons+&qpvt=Callahan+cartoons+&FORM=IGRE#view=detail&id=7974E46D6ACB109C4E53F2D430FF1D92B3CFC993&selectedIndex=65 *
Sorry, don’t know how to do that “putting a link under a descriptive word” thing that all the rest of y’all do.
On the contrary. I distinctly remember this one from NatLamp (in black and white): http://i3.squidoocdn.com/resize/squidoo_images/590/draft_lens6450211module62369062photo_1255185390kliban-cat-nibble.jpg
No Gahan Wilson? Google says it can’t find my favorite, so here’s my description from an earlier thread. It was in an issue of Fantasy and Science Fiction. Two astronauts are in a rocket which has landed somewhere. They’re looking out their viewport and see short people in funny clothes dancing around the rocket and two legs in striped socks projecting from under the rocket. Caption: “Ding dong, the witch is dead!”
I like this one, too. http://peelslowlynsee.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/gahan-wilson-0ct-1964-miss-emmy.jpg
I saw it in Playboy. However, my memory says that’s from from the 70s or 80s, not 1964 as indicated in url.
You’re welcome. What I love about it…
(Spoilered to ensure other people can enjoy it without preconceptions)
The look on her face. She’s working really hard to try to give this poor sap his money’s worth.
I’m pleased to see that nobody has mentioned my favorite yet (yes, it’s a Far Side cartoon too)…
I just thought another really funny one I used to have tacked to my cork board but I can’t find a copy online. It was a fish on a bar stool, on stage in a night club, playing a guitar. The caption reveals he is Salmon Dave. His talk balloon shows he’s singing, “I’m a sole, man”.
This one cracks me up every time!
I recall seeing a cartoon years back where there were two little boys sitting on the front step of a house. The boys were probably about five or six years old, striped shirts and blue jeans, and one of them had a slingshot in his back pocket. On the sidewalk in front of them a cat was walking by and one of the boys pointed at it and said, “I heard my older brother on the phone last night talking – he’s actually eaten one of those.”
Concur.
I just stumbled across this, and I think it’s up there. Here is one of my favorite far sides. Finally, my favorite comics are those by Glen Baxter. Unfortunately I can’t find any of my favorites, but here is one at least.
One of my all time favorites was a Beattie from the early 90s: snow, trees, a miserable man, a st. bernhard, Death seemed preferable to drinking from a barrel covered with frozen dog slobber
Classic! I remember an episode of MAS*H where Col Potter did the same thing!

Kliban absolutely sold work to NatLamp. We’re on the 'net - you can look it up.
"It was a fish on a bar stool, on stage in a night club, playing a guitar. The caption reveals he "is Salmon Dave. His talk balloon shows he’s singing, “I’m a sole, man”. "
That is terrific. I LOL as they say.
