What's the funniest single panel cartoon you've ever seen?

Here’s mine:

An enormous favor

It cracks me up every single time.

[sub]which may say more about me than it says about humor, I admit[/sub]

Mine is the Far Side “No biscuit” one.

(Whenever I make a boneheaded mistake, I tell myself “Bad Karen! No biscuit!”)

That’s hilarious.

One that alwys gets me is this one.

I’m not sure why. Just something about the way the peg-leg sailor is trying to out-top the guy with a peg HEAD just tickles me to no end.

Oh, so many. But the Far Side with the woman standing in her living room, talking on the phone, “Yes. Uh-huh. Oh, Harry’s fine. By the way, could you step outside and tell me what’s in my front yard?” - and the window is filled with a giant eyeball.

OK, an ancient boat has come ashore on an island populated by amazonian-looking women. The implication is that this is a band of Greek explorers. An “Odysseus-type” figure faces the presumed leader of the island and asks, “Lesbos, huh? So what do you girls do for fun around here…?”

The Far Side’s “Cat Fud.” Which is still how I write it on my shopping lists.

So many Far Side ones I can’t even decide. It’s like picking a favourite Beatles song.

Maybe the one with two praying mantis-like housewives (with cat glasses) in the living room. One, standing and wearing an apron, offers a tray of goodies to her friend, who responds with “Goodness Gladys, I couldn’t. I just ate my young an hour ago.”

That’s a good one too. I like the dog going “Oh please, oh please”.

My all-time favorite, by Bill Mauldin:

Far Side again. I remember a Far Side that featured 2 chickens talking to each other. One said something like: When it’s my time to go, I hope I go quietly. Without all that running around.

Midvale School for the Gifted

Brilliant.

Anything by Jerry Von Amerongen.

One from early 80s National Lampoon, I forget who the cartoonist was.

A fat guy at a table in a restaurant, his face is all veiny and bloated. The waiter says “Frankly, for you sir, I wouldn’t recommend any kind of wine.”

Tangentially related: I found an abandoned shopping list in Target one time and one of the items needed was “kat litta”

Warren Tell

More relevant in the 80s, but I give you Poodle with a Mohawk.

Also too many Far Sides to mention.

Eggs-xactly…I couldn’t pick one utmost favorite Far Side to save my life BUT I can choose one Bizarro:

A bug-eyed man comes home to his wife having rearranged the furniture and asking what he thinks of it. And, among other things, the stove and the toilet are in the living room.

The Far Side’s Thagomizer. It’s a actual term, now.

Howdy, howdy, howdy!
