Furniture legs

So I measured twice. The alcove width is 51 1/4 inches. The furniture pice is 50 inches. Brought it home. It doesn’t fit. I guess I should have measured at the floor so the moulding was included. Now I figure my best bet is to find some generic furniture legs 6 1/2 inches tall that I can install on my piece, and raise it to the level it will fit in. Any idea where to buy such legs, or any ideas for improvisation that I can utilize. I really don’t want to just saw up a two by four.

It depends on what type of furniture it is. Any hardware store will have generic replacement legs for sofas for instance. For other pieces there are some selections such as this available online.

Home Depot, Lowe’s, and the like carry unfinished furniture legs in a variety of styles.

What kind of piece is it, what kind of moulding and would it make sense to take out some of the moulding, put the piece in place, and put back in the moulding up to the edges of the piece?
