Furthest/Shortest distance you have moved home from to to?

I would say furthest would be Lancashire to Surrey

Don’t know about Shortest

Across the hall. From a studio to 1 bedroom apt. And it actually was across the hall, you could touch both doors at once.

We moved next door, from 1923 XYZ lane to 1927 XYZ lane.

Furthest would be the move from Knoxville to San Antonio, about 1,200 miles.

Chicago to Budapest for longest. Shortest would be 1/4 mile from the house I grew up in here in Chicago to a new one we bought a year ago.

Closest? Around the corner–maybe 1/10th of a mile.

Farthest? From Baltimore, MD to Saipan, CNMI (other side of the planet)-- when we moved back, it was Saipan, CNMI to Sunnyside, WA, so not quite as far.

Shortest: 450m
Longest: 3.7km

My farthest move also started in Baltimore, but ended in Melbourne Australia.

Closest is Reno to 2 miles away in Reno.

Shortest: About 100 yards
Furthest: 6232 miles

Shortest- down one flight of stairs.

Longest- North Carolina-San Diego +/- 2500 miles.

The longest was from Cleveland to Bozeman, MT, on a Greyhound bus with the maximum allowed number of extra boxes in luggage.

Actually, I guess the eventual move back to Cleveland was just as long, but in a car and with my stuff shipped in a POD, not a bus, which made it a lot more bearable.

The shortest was from one apartment in Bozeman to another, about a mile away, when an on-campus apartment opened up.

I don’t think this one can be beat. We moved around the corner, once. It was easier to walk the refrigerator on a dolly than to load it into a truck. Measuring on Google Earth, it was about 1200 feet.

For longest, moved from near LA to near Flint, Michigan. About 2300 miles.

Longest was NYC to Seattle.
Shortest probably about one and a half miles from a rental house to our first owned home.

Moved NY to CA and back again for furthest. Shortest was my first apartment, moving to my second apartment one floor up and maybe 50 feet away.

Furthest: New Jersey to Bay Area. My daughter has got me beat, though, with moves from Germany to Las Vegas and Las Vegas to Hong Kong.

Shortest - to the other side of a house. I was able to move all my books from the third floor of one to the third floor of the other by handing them out the window.

To the other side of the street in Sarasota FL. Down to Sarasota, then up again, then back again, from two cities in Western/Central NY whose distances are close enough that who wins depends on how many tiny detours one takes.

Moved across Central Florida 5 times but those were short.

Reston, Virginia to Torrance, California for longest (if you don’t count times served in Germany, Alabama and California in the Air Force). Shortest was Torrance, California to Redondo Beach, California, about five miles.

Shortest: About 1500 feet as the crow flies from a rental apartment in Chicago to a Co-op, the first place we owned.

Longest distance: 867 miles from that co-op in in Chicago to New Haven CT.

We spent 1 summer in Vancouver, but it was always to be temporary visiting appointment so I didn’t count it as a move.

Shortest: from apartment #924 (downstairs) to apartment #925(upstairs).

Longest: from Wahiawa, Hawaii to San Diego.

Shortest distance: same building, same apartment, one floor up. Since the ceiling of our old apartment is the floor of our new one, the total distance moved was tecnically, what, 0?

Longest: from Israel to New York and back, twice.

Longest, 11,479 kilometers, Camp Lejeune to Kwajalein. Shortest, +/- 50 meters, 1 floor down, 3 apartments over. Move from a 1br. to a 2br.
