Who has traveled the furthest from the place of their birth? Who has stayed the closest?

I think the title says it all. Take your birthpace, and take the farthest distance you have ever traveled from it, and post that distance. There’s probably a bunch of different sites that can calculate the distance for you quickly. Here is one of them.

For example, I was born in Heidelberg, Germany, and have traveled to Hilo, Hawaii – a distance of 7551 miles.

That should be easy to beat in both directions.

6772 miles.

Motherwell, UK to Manila, Philippines.

~4200 miles.

Burlington, VT to the Capri, Italy.

About 4400 miles. Zanesville, OH to Munich, Germany.

11270 miles. Toronto, Canada to Perth, Australia.

I was born in Alexandria, Virginia and the furthest from there I’ve been was Anchorage, Alaska, 3367 miles away.

EDIT: It looks like I’ve covered the least distance in the thread. For now anyways.

I’ll try to win being the shortest distance.

2177 miles, Macedonia Ohio to San Francisco CA.

About 3,000 miles. I’ve been all over this country (born and raised on the Jersey shore), but never overseas.

Atlanta GA, USA to Bangkok Thailand 9,132 miles or 14,697 km

Born in Punjab India, I think the furthest has to be to Los Angeles. New Delhi to LA is 7978 miles. Add another 50 or 60 miles to go back to Punjab itself and I am just over 8000 miles.

Nashua, NH —> San Francisco, CA = 2665 miles

7718 miles. I was born in Taiwan and live in Indiana.

Places on land: Sydney, NSW, to Newquay, Cornwall - 10,775 miles

Places at sea: Sydney, NSW, to somewhere in the Atlantic off the coast of Portugal - about 11,400 miles (and I was first in that general area when two years old)

I think I’ve seen something that will tell you what is exactly on the other side of the earth from a given point. Anyone know the website I’m thinking of?

Anyway, so far the farthest away from my birthplace (Kentucky) that I’ve been able to think of is Yangon, Myanmar (8695 mi/ 13944 km).

I believe it is the Antipodes Map

Chicago to Kata Tjuta National Park, Australia = about 9,900 miles.

Like most Americans I’m handicapped by being antipodal to a huge body of water. I might go to Perth some day, which would be just shy of 11,000 miles, and that will be it without taking a long slow boat ride to nowhere.

Here’s a website I used. Distancefromto.net

According to this, from Detroit to Beijing is 6633 miles.

7,522 miles (Kansas to Taiwan)

Furthest away from place of birth: 1,829.30 miles.

And as for closest, I currently live less than a mile from the hospital I was delivered in.
