Futurama better than The Simpsons?

Anyone here think Futurama is more funny than The Simpsons?

The Simpsons seems to have lost some of the sharp humor that drew me to it years ago.

Futurama has more observational comedy. Bender is the best character IMO. He’s like the Homer of Futurama.

I love the sexual tension between Leela and Fry, and Bender cracks me up as the hard drinking kleptomanian robot.

Although I still watch the Simpsons, I think itis getting soft in it’s old age.

What do you guys think?

Yup, although I don’t think it is as good as the Simpsons was at it’s best.

For all time, Simpsons is definitely on top. But IMO “The Critic” never dropped in quality for as long as it was on the air. Neither did “The Tick”, though I’m sure they would have if being on for 14 seasons…

I recently saw the episode where homer gets challenged to a duel by the southern gentleman, and he moves away to grow his own crops. For me, the whole thing seemed a bit contrived. It was more of an anti smoking message than a comedy. Maybe its just nostalgia, but the older episodes seemed funnier.

As I understand it, Matt Greoning writes both shows, so maybe more of his talent goes into Futurama than The Simpsons…

The* Simpsons* lost their edge, but Futurama never had one to start with. It has sucked from day one. King of the Hill is the best animated show on the tube.

And bells are not musical instruments!

The animated Tick, right, not the live-action one? I’d buy that show today on DVD if they ever come out with it.

They all pale in the glow of The Family Guy But I’d take The Simpsons over Futurama.

Yeah, the animated Tick. I never saw the live action version. And I can’t believe I forgot about the Family Guy. Definitely funny throughout its whole run…

Rhum Runner – Amen! Family Guy beats them both! Unfortunately, 2 out of the 3 have no future at this point, anyways…

King of the Hill is okay. The only problem with it is that I rarely see anything that couldn’t be done with live action actors. It’s not a show, IMO that needs to be animated.

That boy ain’t right.

I dunno, I mean how exciting can a show about a “pro…pane salesman” be? And whats the deal with the guy who no one can understand? Do people really speak like that?

I like them both, and always watch the new episodes. I still watch Simpsons re-runs every few days, but I don’t care enough to watch the Futurama ones on Cartoon Network. That sums them both up for me.

Simpsons I don’t care about anymore. Futurama I try to catch every sunday night.

Simpsons just isn’t funny anymore, and going through 3 plots per show seems to indicate some kind of attention defiecet disorder on the part of the writers.

As a side note, Futurama was almost canceled because Fox didn’t want Matt putting all his effort into it rather than the Simpsons. But now Matt’s working both and they’re both suffering (mostly Simpsons though) because of it.
Family Guy ruled all. Futurama is a better show than the Simpsons. However the Simpsons best is still IMO better than Futuramas best. Never really liked King of the Hill.

I always thought King of the Hill was kind of slow. As Eutychus inferred, suitable maybe more for a live show than an animation.

Family Guy is good, but would have to say that again it comes across more as a sitcom than an out and out animation comedy.

Futurama just seems really fresh, like the jokes are topical and the humor is subtle but sharp.

Sadly, yes. I’ve heard people speaking like that (in a Waffle House one morning) and the inspiration, supposedly came from someone’s angry call to Mike Judge’s answering machine after an episode of Beavis and Butthead aired.

Beavis and Butthead: Now that was a good show!

A couple of metal head dorks, just hanging out, but it was still funny. MTV should bring em back!

Simpsons > Futurama > Family Guy > 0 > King Of The Hill

Simpsons - used to be great; now sucks

Futurama - was o.k. for about 3 episodes. Never was great. Now sucks. I suppose it’s better than the Simpson’s currently is, but they both stink, so what’s the point of comparing them?

King of the Hill - garbage.
