I suppose I will be in line with Hail Ants also.
FG was sleep-inducing.

Add me to the list. I found the “humor” in Family Guy to be mean spirited and incredibly unfunny.
The reason I liked Family Guy because the humor was so routinely coming from out of nowhere. I guess I’m just wired that way.
This is exactly my problem with The Family Guy. Yea it was funny at times but it was extremely unoriginal and the flashbacks screamed Simpsons. They were overdone and with a lot less grace than on the Simpsons though.
I brought this up in another thread when someone actually tried to tell me that the Family Guy was better (and more offensive!) than South Park!
Note that I still watch the Family Guy but it’s just kind of something to scratch that itch when you’ve seen every single Simpsons/South Park/Futurama five times over.
I really wouldn’t concider KOTH redneck humor (Hank Hill really isn’t much of a redneck anyway), it works on a whole other level of say the dukes of hazzard or hee haw. You kind of have to know the characters and know people like them to get the humor. I didn’t find the show funny until i had seen at least 5 or 6 episodes. I expected it to be like Bevis and Butthead (a great show too IMHO) The humor is very subtle and relys a lot on context. It has many sides to it in that it both gently mocks texas town life but also in a weird way praises it too. Although some people find it kind of slow I enjoy it way more than any other cartoon now (it blows futurama away), even the simpsons (although the simpsons were better at its peak). I don’t know about the rest of the country but the show is pretty popular in Austin and Houston and usually comes on two or three times a day. Most people I know watch it quite often.
Also does anybody know if it airs outside of North America.
Oh yes, we get it in the UK too. It has a smallish cult following.
I’d like to bring up the under-rated “The PJ’s”, quite possibly the last funny thing Eddie Murphy was involved in.
The Survivor parody, with Muriel calling her tribe “Sun” and Thurgoode naming his “Sanford” is a particular high point for me.
