I love their reaction to this. They’re horrified, then smiling, then horrified, then smiling…:)
[Zap Brannigan] You disgust me! Go on.[/ZB]
First new episode good, with some catch-22ish verbal humour. Second episode quite weak. Interesting to see which episode defines the quality for the rest of the season.
It seems no Canadian channel has picked it up. And the industry wonders why people pirate stuff?
I actually liked the second one better than the first. Both were good, though, and of course, it’s great to have Futurama back.
I’d love to know who was behind that decision. I’D GIVE HIM THE CLAMPS!!!
“I never thought I would die this way, but I’ve always really hoped.”
Philip J. Fry
Sweet something of somewhere
Sweet ganja of La Mancha!
I really liked both episodes. I feel like they hit the ground running and it’s the show I know and love and missed all these years. I can’t wait for the rest of the season!
That’s a welcome review.
::rubbing hands together in anticipation::
I wonder if I have some popcorn in the cupboard.
I agree, the first one was good.
It felt like the classic twisty episodes, like the Sting. I mean, I’ve watched enough Futurama to know that Fry is supposed to be a robot at the end, but somehow, it still had me going “ooooooh!!!” It didn’t even bother me that Kif, Zoidberg, and Bender resurrected from human stem cells.
The second one was weak weak weak.
I didn’t quite get why v-giny was supposed to be funny. Is it because it sort of, kind of, maybe, almost sounds like vagina? Virginity? I get the Star Trek reference, but it fell flat for me. Plus, Zap’s only funny when Leela kicks his ass after each and every chauvinistic comment, and well… she couldn’t. Plus, I know Futurama likes to handwave stuff without explaining but at least there’s a quip by Farnsworth about how it’s the future and nothing has to make sense but we didn’t even get a hint of that when v-giny wanted Leela and Zap to mate. A whole lot of whuck?!
Futurama returns in less than an hour on Comedy Central. Two episodes; one dealing with the aftermath of the last movie and in the other Leela and Zapp Brannigan are stranded on an Eden like planet.
what about we fans who haven’t seen the movie? I am left out
Hey wait, my local Comedy Central isn’t showing the new episodes until 11 at night. What gives? Talk about being left out.
The first episode was note-perfect and, notably, written by David X. Cohen. Very clever and full of science fiction tropes.
The second episode was shit and, even more notably, written by a new writer. It was brain-dead, relying on “naughtiness” for laughs. The whole tone was completely off. Seriously, it’s the only truly bad episode of Futurama yet. Terrible. No wit at all.
:dubious: Comedy Central is a cable channel, not a TV network. Are you in the Mountain Time Zone?
Loved the first segment!
(but this commercial break is waaaay too long)
what happened to all the “robot love will destroy humanity”
Nixon again? Oh boy, because we can’t get enough Nixon. Nixon is always funny. Like Leela’s Miss Piggy karate.
Still glad it’s back.
