Futurama; season 7-B (open spoilers after each airing)

“In your dead face little girl.” LOL!!!

Wait, there’s only one episode left?! I thought there were two or three. No fair! Can’t we use nerd math to make there be a couple more episodes or something?

Yeah, I’d say he got what was coming to him pulling a stunt like that. I liked Leela’s lampshading of the luxurious panic room that would’ve come in handy numerous times before.

Well, this is is folks…the last episode of Futurama, potentially ever, airs tonight. :frowning:

I know it was canceled once before, and brought back as direct-to-DVD movies, and then after that for a couple of season here on CC, but I don’t think it will get another resurrection.

There will be a live-stream chat about Futurama with some cast and crew hosted by Chris Hardwick both before and after the final episode on The Nerdists’s Youtube channel, if anyone wants to watch that:

If the commentaries are anything to go by, this could be pretty funny. Matt and David know a lot about the show, and Billy, Phil, Maurice, et all are hilarious.

I was confused. When I read about that happening I thought they meant it s going to air on comedy central before and after the show…oops.

I liked that Zoidberg got to keep the girl, and now back to the Moon!

That was a really sweet ending.

And poignant.

Fry asked Leela if she “wanted to go around again,” and she says “yes.”

Then they immediately started playing the first ever episode, literally “going around again” for the series.

And open-ended if someone else wants to produce more episodes!

That was just about a perfect series finale: some very funny jokes, an interesting sci-fi dilemma, a lot of great visuals of the frozen world, and we not only got to see Fry and Leela get married, we got to see their life together (at least a version of it). That’s pretty much everything you could want.

Goodbye, from The World of Tomorrow, indeed.

Very sweet episode, a good way to end the series. My biggest laugh was their bed made of pandas and koalas.

And all of the time travel episodes are the best! Roswell That Ends Well, The Late Philip J Fry, Time Keeps On Slipping, and I think this one is going to make my top 10 too!

It really was the best series finale Futurama’s ever had.

Just missed the edit window, but I also just realized that they created a time loop to prevent any new episodes from being made! If they jump back to right before Farnsworth created the button, then the exact same thing will happen again, making them going back for more and more rounds of the same lifetime with nobody else ever getting past the point where the button was destroyed! Now, that REALLY bums me out, but it’ll be nice to know that Fry & Leela get to spend eternity together.

She specifically said, “I do.” Even more meaningful. That really was a great series finale with a little bit of practically everything that made the series so good. I actually re-watched it immediately (which I never do), so I went around again myself, albeit only 22 minutes or so. . .

I thought it was nice that they did that. I thought it was a good way to end the series. I cracked up when they were on the beach and Fry tosses the dog with the frisbee in it’s mouth to Leela.

I was planning on going to bed after the last episode but when they started the first episode I thought what the hell and I stayed up to watch it. It was fun to see the differences between the two episodes.

I read a while back that Nibbler (well his shadow) was actually in the first episode and I remembered to look for it and it really was there, for a second and a half, as Fry falls into the cryo-tube.

I thought they did a great job with the finale, too.

It does seem to have become traditional to end a television series with a “have it both ways” ending. (In this case, as with STNG and Voyager, we get to see What Happens To The Characters, and also get to believe that what happens to them is undetermined and open to all possibilities.) The Futurama crew did as good a job with this now-traditional trope as anyone has, I thought.

Except for the fact that it’s no longer the Futurama series finale, I preferred “The Devil’s Hands are Idle Playthings”, which is one of the best episodes of the entire series.

Not that “Meanwhile” was a bad episode at all. I liked it quite a lot, and the writers hit the right notes for what they knew was actually going to be the final episode for real.

I don’t no why but I took it t mean that they would go back to just before he thought of the idea of the device so that he would never invent it in the first place.

That was how I took it- I think he said something about going back to before he invented the button. I’m in the middle of watching the episode again but I haven’t gotten back to the end yet. Also, I liked “Bronx Zoo: Get a Loada Dese Animals Ova Here.”

“To the instant before I conceived of the time button,” he says. But we don’t know when that was.
